A way to achieve balance in RvR?

A step in the right direction towards achiving balance between the realms in RvR would be to cap the number of any base class (ie fighter, seer, rogue, naturalist, etc) that can join a group at 3.

Discuss.

wouls still leave mid with 3 healers

->

3 cure mezzers
3 perfect recoveries
3main healers with spreadheal and instas

3 savages are more than enuff to kill anything in secs..

Depends on your point of view.

If you're a caster you know that removing spellcrafting would balance the game.

If you're a shadowblade or nightshade then dragonfang is clearly the only thing standing in the way!

If you're an archer assasins can't be punished enough to make the game balanced.

If you're a savage the game is perfect as it is. Shhhhhhh. Go away.

If you don't have a buffbot then buffbots are standing in the way of balance.

If you're a reaver then gaining determination would balance the game.


And if your an alb then certain classes are the problem, hence why limiting the numbers per group seems balance to us.

I don't think so. Any realm can make a viable combination of classes, so I think the game could be balanced if people actualy played those classes in the right numbers... it's just that some classes in some realms are not deemed fun to play, or at least not when specced in the most groupfriendly way... so some classes are underpopulated, making the realm weaker as a whole (low non-buffbot druid population for instance).

what about nerfing bards/druids and uhmm wardens ?

hiler is most nerfed class of the game fyi - there's is no patch without nerf to em.

DAoC swap shop.

Swap savages for reavers.

Swap cleric smite line for healer pac line.


Now mid needs CC and mana regen. Give them sorcs. Now all realms have 12 classes.

Problem solved.


This is where you mids jump in and say something about BoF and AF buffs btw.

But they wouldn't be able to catch anything to kill it because they'd have no Skald...

We're talking BASE classes here, not character classes...

No more 4 Seer groups (3 Healer + 1 Shaman)
No more 4 Viking groups (3 Savage/Zerker/Warrior + 1 Skald)
No more 4 Magician groups (4 Enchanter/Eldritch)
No more 4 Naturalist groups (2 Druid, 1 Warden + 1 Bard)
No more 4 Fighter groups (3 Merc/Arms/Reaver + 1 Paladin)

Lets find the most popular class across all realms. Anyone who does not play the most popular class gets the character deleted & replaced with a same level of the most popular class.

Flatten all RVR Zoned and put one keep relic in the middle exactly the same distance from all the portal keeps.

Give everyone a standard weapon.

Give everyone the same ISP.

Make everyone level 50 at the start.

Stop playing and go and play CS where your better suited.

A lot of you seem to be missing the point... we're not discussing what YOU think will balance RvR or nerfing Savages, we're discussing whether restricting groups to a maximum of 3 of any base class would improve things in RvR in general!

<sigh> @ peoples reading skills... or lack thereof! :rolleyes:

ye lets nerf healers, thay havnt been nerfed in every patch yet (they missed us in the latest patch).
Healers been nerfed everyother patch tho, but lets nerf em more...

So you want to cut out Hibernia out of resists/PBT, CC or a 2nd healer?

And albs has to have atleast 4or 5 diff chars in a grp to get a balanced grp, so no use there.
Hibs would have to run with 3 pbaoers "only" so no big changes tehre either.
So it wouldnt help at all.

The real issue is then: would mid groups be brought back into the balance if it was made impossible for them to make the so popular 3healer/1 shaman, 1 skald, 3 savages groups? It could work... guess that would give casters a spot in mid groups again.. for hibs it wouldn't make a lot of difference (druid/bard/warden, 3x mage, 2x tank), dunno what it would mean for albs, but probably not much either. Still, I think the real problem is that some classes are simply underplayed and others are way too popular.

The thread is merely stemming from getting owned by 4 viking + 4 seer groups and thinking of a way to stop that.

It doesn't affect Albs as they have to have 1 Mage + 1 Rogue in the group, so 3 Fighters + 3 Acolytes make about as good a group as you can anyway.

It nerfs Hibernia preventing them from having 2x main healer or lose PBT + resists (no one is going to drop the Bard).


But in particular it nerfs anyone who isn't in an organised RvR guild who don't 'only build the best group possible', which includes myself who mainly play to have fun with friends.

have had great fun in a grp of 1 healer and 7 rms ones =)
not an optimal grp, but fun =)

Yeah, very true.

Was just talking about a 'balance' point of view tho. It wont be good for balance because of the druid/druid/warden/bard setup which is fine and not creates unbalance.

And yeah if I wanna run a group with 2 clerics, 2 friars, 1 wiz, 1 theurg, 1 sorc 1 minstrel I should be allowed to do that.

Or like you said grouping with friends and stuff.


Bad idea overall!
