What's the best way for a cleric to survive in RvR?

Of course I'm always grouped before venturing out into the wilds, but I'm finding that I'm the first one enemies will try to kill when we encounter them, I guess coz they wanna take out teh healer first and Clerics are easier to kill.

So, I've tried sticking close to tanks hoping they will defend me, but by and large it doesn't make a lot of difference.

I've tried hanging around the casters, but it makes little difference.

Tried keeping near the mincer for a fast getaway, but then what's the point? I won't be able to heal if I just run off.

Tried staying off to the side of the battle, but then I'm largely open and easy to spot.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Help pls.

Get 2 clerics in grp, and if u die all the time u grp with crap tanks... stay behind passive dont stand in middle of field and spam spread heal

There's a shortage of clerics at peak time, so the vast majority of the time I'm the only cleric in the group.

And funnily enough, quite often the tanks are hybrids, I don't see many Armsnmen in RvR, Mercs are more common and there's a fair few pallys

I have a better survival rate when I RvR with my guild, but I guess that's because it's normally the experienced players I play with then.

And yeah, I spread heal most of the time.

When you say stay behind, off somewhere by myself or hang around the casters?

Agreed, but quite often the fights are at the border gates and so on, where the trees are a lot more sparse.
But yeah, I do that if we end up in a fight near trees...

you shouldnt use spreadheals, they make you stand out like a beacon, use the baseline single heal, its MUCH better, heals for _almost_ as much and makes it harder to target you

As in the lowest power heal?
Yeah it's quick, but I need to heal a lot of damage fast.
I don't usually get much of a chance to get lots of spells off b4 I get ganked.

If I use the single target powerful heals, they take longer and then someone else gets killed.

Tell a shield tank to stick You or leave group.

but like dwy said if you can get a nice hiding spot life becomes very easy, if not try to just keep out of enemy tanks views. If its a good group your facing then they are more than likely gonna be going for either your sorc or your 2 clerics first, and if your not being hit its your job to keep the one who is alive!

If you do get attacked try running in front of your sorc, or at least in view of your sorc so they can try to mezz/root the attackers.

If you see your sorc being attacked by 1 tank, stun it and the sorc should root/mezz it. If its more than 1 start healing and hope the sorc has qc cc ready

ohh, did I forget to mention that you should smite as much as possible? Makes you look like a thane and noone bothers to kill thanes first anyways

If u fight any experienced mid or hib grp ure never live long - hiding behind trees is great but the they will find u - as the tanks search especially for the cleric. TBh only way to survive is to hope for a good sorc, second cleric and an experienced grp who will keep u alive.

relly standing back has to be the most usual fault clerics do, u know its all about if blending in (I dont play cleric but a healer )

If a see someone standing far back he will get mezzed. No question.


So whats the tip ? well many mid healer has a special way of behaving, we impose, mostly thanes

So we runabout in the middle of our groupe, cast a little, move some, thow a stun there, move, heal. All in a nice blend.

And yes get urself a bodyguard, a slam tank noone else can relly do it good enugh. In mid whe have the ultimate bodyguard in the Thane, not cuz hes good but cuz he has so bad selfestem that he wont charge into the battle and therfor stays with the healer


PS these tipses are classified so any alb or hibs that reads this must not use this information to get to the healers

What often helps is to stay near a good theurg. If they attack you the theurg can pet-spam the target. Not only will 90% of all mids/hibs charge the theurg, a good chance the hole group sees what happens and go kill the target being pet spammed. And if you are with a theurg, start to stun the person attacking you/theurg. 5 pets is a real killer, and the pbt will prevent a lot of dammage.

Biggest draw back is that often you are attacked or the theurg by 2+ melee people, and a theurg will then be out of options except an area mezz that gets resisted a lot.

Best defense is to stick by the Paladin, not only the shield block/slam will help you, but the light show of a pallie can hide your own spells as long as he lives....

I'm still wearing my epic armor ATM, which probably mkes me easier to spot, maybe I can dye it black to hide the distinctive cleric Epic armnor look?

And yeah, I'm working on completing getting a full crafted set of armor, I just need to get it all enchanted next.

I also heard of some cleric here who could arm a weapon which clerics don't usually use to make him look different, but I can't remember what that was, any ideas?
