Can you troll people by telling flat out that you're trolling?

If for example i tell people now, that i'm trolling, would it defeat the purpose, or would it be a very genious troll to get people upset even if they know it's a troll?

Considering it's the internet, i wouldn't put this past people ofcourse, this place sure has a lot of potential rage racers that could be poked at with a big neon sign saying "Please react!" and they'd go bonkers.

Especially if you bring in sensitive issues, the previous still holding true, would it still be silly how effective it is? If for example i say that soccer sucks big donkey balls, or that french and english really have no difference, would the clear cut statement "i'm trolling", deter the actual reactions?

...unless of course they then don't troll in which case... well I guess saying so is an act of trolling but...

Yes it is possible to get a reaction but it'll usually be a reaction by other trolls or by people who should know better
