Yes boys and girls, after another extended period of smoking (just over 2.5 years) I have decided to stop. Well not right now, but in the past.... November 11th, 9pm to be precise.

Not had a ciggy since then, no patches, no help, no hypnosis. 20 a day to fuckall. Thing is I do not miss the nicotine, but I do miss the habit, ie the routine. Am so determined to make this the last time. Now I get to turn into a fat bastard again....

Disclaimer: Been a smoker since I was 14 :(

Does nicotine actually keep the pounds off?
Or do ppl get fat because instead of smoking they cram their gobs full of chocolate & cake?

Edit: oh and well done for kicking the habit.

Yes, smoking makes you eat less/feel less hungry and it is known that when you give up you pile on the pounds/inches.

I suggest caffeine in diet coke form if your looking for a healthy substitute.

It's eating as compensation for having a fag in your hand m8.

Big bag of carrots. That'll do the trick.

My missus has just gone 12 months so it's well doable - keep it up :)

I started at 13. Am 41 next something in 2013 ;) I gave up 2 years ago but I brought an e-cig. It's my dummy now, it goes everywhere with me.

When sh*t hits the fan, which it will at some point, have a backup "go to stress reliever". More often then not work, break up, general sh*t will get you smoking again and at that point it's good to have something else.

Best of willpower on your chosen path.

The only reason he's quit is because he now can't manage the cold, the soft southern nancy, standing outside the office where all the smokers have to congregate like the social lepers that they are :)

I knew I didn't phrase it very well. He will be able to taste and smell things better. AND he will taste and smell nicer to whomever happens to be tasting or smelling him! Is that clear enough?

Nearly 4 weeks, the tough part will be the works Christmas party (next Sat 15th in London...) and Christmas itself.

Unless you're being licked by a 40-a-day smoker ofc
(it could happen...some ppl pay for that...so I'm told...)
