not bad overall, and is around for cheapish (£18)

however, if you are interested in getting it, wait a month or 2
it has so many CTD / save corrupting bugs at the moment its not even funny

and as with the previous Stalker, if you patch it, it invalidates your saves.

so wait till its been patched 3 or 4 times :)

In other words don't buy it.

I bought the first one and returned it the next day it was that bad.

Guess I can ask here, is the original STALKER now stable with patches?

I couldn't play it on my older graphic card because the sky totally bugged out unless I was running windowed mode(which I can't stand). I've had a copy for ages but never kinda got into it, but figured I might give it a whirl again now with the new gfx card to prepare for the Clear Sky stable(and cheaper still!) version :)

Stalker was buggy as feck, yet still fun :)

Will deffo be playing clear skies, but it'll be a 2009 title for me to give them time to get it sorted.

The last STALKER patch I played was a serious improvement on stability and performance.

script replacement "fix" :

~~~~~
Drive Letter:\Install Location\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky\gamedata\scripts
You will need to create the “gamedata” and “scripts” sub-folders then just change the “$game_data$” line to “true| true” in “fsgame.ltx” located as follows:
Drive Letter:\Install Location\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky
Script files unpack to scripts path as above
~~~

did this earlier, hasnt crashed in 2 hours, worth a try if anyone is struggling with it

well its billed as such, but you do spend most of the game chasing your former self which is quite odd
so its more a 2nd angle on same thing

Kinda looking forward to this. I played through the original unpatched [no crashed lock up or anything] patched and was quite sad when my savegame was lost.

Ending to the original was...original and highly expected...atleast the ending i got was ;)

Also looking at the new environment engine, looks very good indeed.

Oh wow, I didnt realise this was out!

I really enjoyed SoC, I've played it though several times, some of the modifications to the artificial life and AI are really pretty good and put a nice new spin on things - one of them made it so alot nastier stuff roamed about and towards the end of the game the bar haven place had been almost completely overrun! :D Really atmospheric.

I personally never had any real problems with bugs on stalker.

most people got the "bad" ending in the original :p
Haha yea, it took me a lot of messing around to finally find out how to get the two "proper" endings, well worth it though just for the last area :)
