Enjoying the demo but can't see much of an advance since Homeworld: Cataclysm (apart from snazzier gfx).

Still, I loved Cataclysm so dum de dum.

yummy GFX is good enough for me. the original HW wasn't that bad either back in the day

Played through the demo and it seemed alright but a bit shallow. All I did really was pump out a few squadrons of ships and send them off to attack with a single click. And then I'd just float around watching them fight till they finished and I sent them to the next target.

Hope it'd be a bit more involving in the full game and I think the multiplayer would need to be pretty good to make me buy it.

Well since homeworld and hw:c refuse to work on this machine, even if HW2 was a blatent remake I wouldn't be too bothered

As it is its looks sweet, not sure why they messed with interface, the old interface was excellent once you got to know it but this one is just same as every other rts game out there.

Also, when WHEN will somebody bring out a space combat/trade game WITH AN IN-COCKPIT VIEW? Something immersive? I don't want to point a click tiny objects and tell them to move over there. I want to fly my own ship with my own joystick through treacherous asteroid fields. I want to feel the rush as I pull off a daring maneuver. I want to dock with another ship manually. I want to buy and steal stuff to get a bigger, faster ship.

I want Elite with fancy graphics.

PLEASE someone tell me there's such a game on the horizon? I got excited about Freelancer and EVE, but neither of them were what I was after.

I dunno guv. Space games were getting really good a few years back with X-Wing vs Tie fighter, Wing Commander and Privateer but they seemed to tail off after that. We had Freelancer and that was alright but seemed a bit consoley and basic.

Pretty much all the others have been made for consoles or have gone in a completely different direction like Eve.

Personally I think should have stuck with the X-Wing vs Tie games and continued to expand on them. They could have even done a subscription type game with it as long as they didn't MAKE YOU MINE SHITTY ASTEROIDS FOR DAYS ON END trying to get some money which is no fun no matter how you look at it. And there's no way that the SWG add-on is gonna make an even passable space combat game. Just no way.

In my ideal space game you'd have player flyable capital ships so your clan could take a frigate into war and have the fighters launching from it and stuff. But you probably couldn't get that sort of gameplay in a non-subscription game and then the developers would find a way of adding 20 hours of mind numbing tedium for every 1 hour of fun. I'm gonna finish where I began.

Yes it does kick ass, the only prob is that on my new machine on text in-game goes all funny and u can't make anything out which is a shame, but still an amazing game.

Theres nothing better than taking out a group of ties in a X-wing and swooping down the front of a star destroyer with your squadmates and pull up at the last min, destoying the shield generators.
