Oh and I had to call the automated MS phone support to get my Office reactivated because it saw this PC as a new one and said it was already activated elsewhere
Ooh, thanks, that looks good
"0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation".
Keep getting that error on my desktop. Any ideas?
Ah balls. I'm going to have to find my Win7 DVD to get the product key. Think it went into the attic when we moved. This is going to have to wait until the weekend.

Why do you need the key? Are you doing a fresh install?
You're just full of these little gems aren't you @caLLous

You using encryption software on some of your file folders?
No, but for some reason the upgrade button hasn't appeared on my Win7 machines (it has on the Win8 laptop), so if I want to update I'll need to go down the media creation tool route, and that needs a product key. I have it...somewhere.
All my settings seem to be made for a laptop rather than my PC?
Don't like Edge
I've somehow managed it get IE back. Not sure if that's supposed to happen.
Only if you do the fresh install. If you select upgrade now then you don't. It's the method I have chosen.
That's most likely an overscan issue on the TV. Poke around in the menu for the option (they all call it something different).Well win 10 is installed but I use the TV as a monitor and I can't view the whole of the desktop. The outer parts including the task bar are barely visible! Hopefully the new ati driver sorts it out otherwise I'm not sure how to fix it!
Check the PID checker tool that I posted above (@Edmond quoted me) to get your product key and then go from there. Not working. I just get "something happened" (very informative) and the install closes down.
