Unfortunately the SSD is totally gone. BIOS does not even see it in any of the machine I have access too. The laptop is only about 2 years old so I am surprised that it has died but it is not even showing up as being plugged in.

Like I said, try using the advanced recovery fix mbr tool, It happened on one of my drives in a machine I was trying to upgrade in the past, the drive wouldn't show in a booted system, and wasnt available to boot to, but I could fix the MBR and then the drive was accessible again.

I have booted the laptop of a 7 and 8 disk and neither show the Drive in System Recovery or when using diskpart on the CMD Prompt. So unless you know a different way to fix It I think it is dead. I have even tried a Linux Live CD and this thing is just not showing up at all.

But have you had a drive that does not display in BIOS that has been fixed but repairing the MBR?

If it's not visible in the BIOS it's hardware, it sounds dead to me. What I think @ECA is talking about is that sometimes in Windows the drive isn't visible without a valid MBR or Partition table.

Just looked at my windows update list and it says windows 10 update failed at 07.33 this morning. I wasn't here, so maybe that's why, it got tired of me waiting to push a button?

Says I need to restart?

Delete everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download then run wuauclt.exe /updatenow from an administrative command prompt.

Starting to sound like it's not worth the hassle to upgrade in it's current state. Think I'll wait a few months till it's all fixed.

Been straightforward for me tbh. Upgrade process took about 45 minutes...

Saying something about having to reinstall the language pack as it will change my display language?

Now it's installing, I'm off to tesco

Edit- it's on 33% already, is it that quick, or my beast of a machine so fucking fast !!

Still off to tesco's though, laters

one problem i've ran into so far, there seems to be an issue with add/remove program, sometimes it will just flat out refuse to uninstall a program, othertimes it'll say "There is already a program being installed or uninstalled" when there isn't. When you do get to uninstall something it won't let you uninstall anything else until you restart, not sure if its the same for all programs but it was doing that with my nvidia drivers.

All my settings seem to be made for a laptop rather than my PC?

Don't like Edge

I'm creating a USB upgrade which I'll use at the weekend depending on reliability reports out there. Thanks for the link @caLLous

"0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation".

Keep getting that error on my desktop. Any ideas?
