the best mmrpgs have always been the ones designed by enthusiasts whos only goal is to create a "cooool" game... I think if the foundation of the game is its ability to pull money in, you will be making something with bags of short term fluff but no "cooool" end game...

therefore lots might by it but the real hardcore players (us) wont like what it offers...

If the only thing WAR adopts on release is the player base of WoW and not the playerbase of DAoC, or more accurately, the playerbase of FH dyvet trolls, especially the mindless venomous parasites that have the audacity to call themselves human beings, then it has promise.

And for the vermin that say PvP in WoW sucks compared to DAoC, theres one thing blizzard did manage to achieve that Mythic never did, numerically fair battles. Ironic really, the majority of animals left on dyvet that whine about being zerged and added on and also whine about WoW having bad PvP. Yet WoW has arena's for combat strictly 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5. They suffer from class balance issues like anyone online game, but no zerging or adding is possible.

If you were using DAoC as a comparison, what precisely is "cooool" about it, or was for that matter? And btw the "hardcore players" are cognitive customers, theyre always thinking, their attitudes and beliefs towards a product change after every patch, every hotfix etc. The players of games like wow or possibly WAR are passive customers, the majority having jobs and real lifes and play wow around their lives. The industry that is MMORPG's isnt able to base its products around cognitive customers, since their attitudes and beliefs vary so widely that it simply is not possible to adapt the product to every need. Therefore you will never get an MMORPG made just for its coolness. Mythic made a product to suit a growing market, it was never intended for players to arrange 8v8 combat, nor was it arranged for solo pvp zones to be developed. It was the players that made DAoC the game it was, not the company and anyone with any logic should know that WAR will be the same. In time the players will make the game into what it is, just like in DAoc and just like in WoW. The "coolness" you speak of is made by the players and the community.

Everything a players makes is bound to the limits the code of the game sets.

DAoC is pretty uncool PvE and PvP wise.

Kill n mobs for m levels.
Outnumber/outrank x players with y.

I want an MMORPG where a powerful well played character can take out 10 others, let's say a mage with focuses ready to survive a nuclear bomb but who can be killed by fresh character with a sniper rifle when he is at the wrong place at the wrong time.

That's cool. Players can't make that, developers can.

Suppose it depends what you're definition of cool is really, but yea you do have a point. I just tend to think that the players who push the boundaries of the coding influence the design teams to change things for the better etc, it certainly proved that way in WoW, unfortunately DAoC never got to the idea of instanced 8v8 arena's or the game wouldn't be in such a diabolic state, so I guess it's 50/50 company and players then. I still think it was the guilds doing 8v8 that pioneered a great way to play daoc, even by only doing what they were allowed. Shame Mythic didn't help them in any such way, probably were looking after the 90% of the player base not the 10%. Didn't help them in the long run though.

I will play Warhammer and so will some CM members, I just don't know for how long. You stated otherwise. That leads me to the conclusion that you're a dumb bitch. But maybe you're just missing some sleep.

Lolz, best thread in a while :x..

..WAR kinda do seem awfully simular to WoW. Will only know when played the final product for a while, though neither I will put myself through that again with Mythic/GoA. Giving Age of Conan a go when its ready instead. Seem to be a more grown up game and with a new fresh and interesting spin layout.

Think its due to mars-april next year though. ~
