Nowhere near his good standard, a very poor book IMO.

Meh. I'm really enjoying it. May be just a personal thing with this book?
It did win a Hugo after all![]()
But apparently they've pushed the publish date forward ANOTHER year. I'm close to done with this.
Oh, I read the Scar and Perdido Street Station by China Mieville a long time ago..
.. I could never decide if I liked them or not.
I could never get completely attached to any of the 'hero' characters like I do in other books, and sometimes it just seemed like he was being fucked up for the sake of it.
Are the Peter F Hamilton books good ? Where should I start ?![]()
Anyone else read Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series ? Really great series. I haven't read the last book yet. Though starting to wonder if he should quit whilst he's ahead and wrap things up a little.
I'd say it's the best series I've ever read, and he has wrapped it up.
re-reading Magician. It's too childlike for me now and irks me. I also have Silverthorn and A darkness at whereeveritwas, and they're even worse![]()
If that happens I'll have my people call your peopleJust finished reading Hotel Kerobokan, must say I quite enjoyed it. If I end up in there, I'm looking to you, TdC, to come break me out. There's a good lad.
I'm *really* picky about my fantasy (and scifi). Riftwar is too easy (for the characters). In fact, imo the only worthwhile char in all of the books is....Really ?I read Magician et al religiously a long time ago when I was younger and loved them all - have read some of the other Feist's more recently in the past few years and liked them, but I suppose they weren't quite the same, not quite as deep as I remember thinking when I was a kid.
Macros
Darkness at sethanon
I loved his books but yeah they are a bit childish at times. I think he has one more till its finished so will complete the series. I found some characters such as Tomas, Macros and Nakor were amazing!
SilverHood said:You should try the Empire series, beginning with Daughter of the Empire, that REF co wrote with Jany Wurtz. They are probably some of the finest fantasy books ever written.
A few chapter's in and I'm obsessed with the universe he's created all over again.i agree, it is an incredible series and I felt he tied up most of the threads with TCG. Read his new book-Forge of Darkness the other week, very interesting read but makes a fuck ton of questions to be answered. Also felt a lot darker and more philosophising .
