Finished Game of Thrones last night and in the middle of the prologue of Clash of Kings right now. I love the TV show but so much more depth to the books.

Yeah. I picture the TV characters when I read the book (Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Jerome Flynn etc)...but with Lord of the Rings, I don't picture the movie actors at all - I stick with the faces from my imagination, and the voices from the BBC radio production of LOTR. Strange :)

So is harry potter, so is 50 shades, so is the divinci code. The masses want easy to read page turners.

If you want amazing writing, read Staying On by Paul Scott, or Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, or Silas Marner, WB Yeats, Austin, Tolstoy, Dickens, or Les Miserables (Victor Hugo)...etc etc

I reread Use of Weapons, Neuromancer, Revelation Space, The Dragon and the Unicorn. Currently reading a book on the life and times of Jeffrey Dahmer. It's shit.

Couldn't agree more. I'm about 1/3 of the way through book 6 now and they have been driving me crazy since....actually like you say around book 3.

Just finished reading this, quite good though a bit linear. Pretty true to life though. This should possibly be in the Sons Of Anarchy thread though :)

Wait for the last WOT book, cmon you fooker i can't wait any longer :(

There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. ;)

I've waited 18 years, 1 author dead too soon, 11000 pages and at least 4 million words for this blasted series to end! What's a few more days ... :D

Just about to finish The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. A very enjoyable read. Peter f Hamilton's new one Great North Road, then I've got an excellent edition of Beowulf to sink my teeth into, followed by the 3rd abarat book by Clive Barker.

By then the follow up to The Passage should be out.

Loads to read :)

I have just started that and so far it has me glued to it!

Very good indeed!

Bloody great big book though. This is when a kindle would be a good thing to have!
