It's got me again, I tried to send 80 quid to the driver training program and up pops this Visa verification box, so it asks me without mentioning it's a registration for my ATM pin!!! Also all my card details, address, phone number etc, so I filled it all in with bollocks to check it out and it just hung and hung and I gave up, my 80 quid is in the ether and no-one is in to answer the phone.
I fucking hate Visa verification!!!

I tried again a few minutes later and it had changed to RBS verification, WTF is going on!

I agree that it can be a pain, but if you look carefully, you should see it has a login name and asks for 3 chars from your password. I like it because it shows your bank is actually involved in the verification process.

Yeah you set a password, but its not your pin.

No really , your ATM pin number, I 've been to their site and it confirms it, FFS I've only just cleared a back door trojan off the PC and I 'm not typing my pin number into a popup I didn't request.

Hi! It appears that you're new. It looks like you're trying to fill out a form, do you want some help?

Yeah, that's definitely not right. There's no implementation of 3D secure that asks for your ATM PIN. Looks like a phishing attempt to me.

Seriously how many times do they say never give out your pin... And they will never ask you for it etc. Don't believe me fine, but all you should enter is a password you have set. Or better yet phone your bank. You just mentioned trojans... Sounds like you're not free of them

Also post a link (not one you clicked from the popup) from their official site which states you have to enter a pin.

Google your banks name along with visa verification, then look at the images tab. Doubt it asks for a pin.

It shouldn't.

There's the initial setting up of Visa verification, but apart from that it should be a username and passy in future as Bathmat says.

Sounds like its time for the old immediately cancel your card at the bank caper.

The verification thing will ask you to enter numbers/letters from your chosen password. Not your PIN.

Have to agree with everyone else. VbV never asks for a PIN. To ensure it's not a scam you should check the customisable personal message because only them and your bank know to send it, so you make that unique and you're extra safe.

You still have a version of PC HIV on your PC imo. :(

Yes you have to provide pin for initial registration and i actually think the popup was genuine, but thats just weird,
By the way i made everything up, so no worries there.

I didn't have to provide my PIN when I registered a Barclaycard. You really only use that at a cash machine and for chip and pin stuff.

Yrs i too share your surprisr, but if you visit the vbv homepage they are now asking for pin as part of verification, the eeird part is why they asked during a transaction, it seemed to be a registration process i didnt start and could be a phish, but ill find out monday

No it doesn't. This is from Visa's information page, telling you what you should see when you get a verification screen (can be a pop or in line depending on implementation).

Where did you find that? Did you actually start the registration process? I was just looking through their FAQs and stuff and didn't see anything concrete. :(
