He needs to engage brain, it's really that simple.

It's not really that simple though is it? If the banks were doing their job properly and a. making implementations of 3DS consistent, and b. making sure their customers understood exactly what to expect when using it; it would be much harder for scammers to pull stunts like man-in-the-middle attacks. Job isn't that much different to the majority of punters out there.

3DS has been around for nearly 8 years and there are still huge numbers of customers who don't understand what it is.

I would like to think I'm a lot more savvy than most, that's why I put in false info
to 'test' the scam, many people would probably go ahead and fill it all in.
My main concern was that the actual transaction had gone ahead straight from the vendor and the scam was just an extra layer in didn't need to complete it.

Oh bollox, the baby's out again.

I couldn't agree more it's a horrible, inconsistent, buggy, piece of shit and has probably caused more harm than it's saved.

Also it was a seperate middle page, it was on the first screen, not rocket science to make the screen half legit ,half phish, most phishing pages do this, with al kinds of real links embedded to
give more legitamacy.

Sorry mate, you aren't more savvy. If you were you'd never have had your browser hijacked in the first place. A free AV, firewall, windows updates, a good browser (up to date) and some common sense have meant I've never had a virus or had any browser hijacks. The only virus to ever enter any computer in my house was my sister accepting a file on msn, which the virus scanner picked up anyway.

Well have to agree with Ch3t, my homecompy has been free of evil net-bugs since it was bought.

She's a trooper though.

It's perfectly possible and really not that difficult at all to stay virus-free if you are in complete control of your *own* PC. You're not exactly strengthening your "I'm tech-savvy" argument here, Job.

Firewall: check
Firefox7: check
Kaspersky AV: check
MWB: check
Auto updates: check

Still got browser hacked (maybe)

Some new viruses, particularly ransomware, use polymorphic code to avoid detection by virus scanners. Jerome Segura, a security analyst with ParetoLogic, explained:[46]
“ It's something that they miss a lot of the time because this type of [ransomware virus] comes from sites that use a polymorphism, which means they basically randomize the file they send you and it gets by well-known antivirus products very easily. I've seen people firsthand getting infected, having all the pop-ups and yet they have antivirus software running and it's not detecting anything. It actually can be pretty hard to get rid of, as well, and you're never really sure if it's really gone. When we see something like that usually we advise to reinstall the operating system or reinstall backups.[46]

Adblock for FF7?
NoScript for FF7?
SuperAntiSpyware?
Microsoft Security Essentials?

Removed all old versions of Java: Check
No issues ever: Check

By the by, using MSE/SAS on a PC at work with a "dumb" colleague stopped me having to clean up stupidity that inevitably "found" its way onto their box.
