Well the game is out in September and I don't know when the PS4 is out but Xbox One is November. I don't know why they don't make it a launch title on the next gen consoles tbh, it would surely boost sales.

does seem quite silly given how close the release dates are, perhaps they're making a version for the xbox one and ps4 aswell? bit like diablo 3 is making 2 diff versions.

I'm sure I read somewhere that their priority is the 360 and PS3, but they'll be making it available on next gen consoles at a later date.

The game has been in development for a few years now probably after RDR they started early development everything has been built for the PS3 and 360 if they wanted to make PC/xbone/ps4 that is potentially another 3 teams required the costs would simply too much considering that their last release was RDR which was 3-4 years ago.

Remember RS don't churn out games like a meat factory.

It's hard to believe RS have only made 3 games this generation, GTA 4, RDR and some silly Table Tennis game, 4 games if you count a port for Bully from the PS2 over to the 360.

GTA/RDR i spent over 130 hours over the two games, GTA 5 the last hurrah for this generation.

This looks incredible. Never been a fan of any of the GTA games since the top-down ones but I'll have to play this just for the sheer scale of it.

I'd imagine it probably has something to do with the number of years its been in development. I wouldn't want to port it. If they don't hype it now (hence the video) it will be overshadowed if PS4/XBone drops first.

Rockstar announce gameplay was from a PS3.

A lot of the modelling is done on this gen tech (Bit obvious) - But the rendering distance etc is fantastic for this gen.

Certainly going to be pushing the system to the limit if its a bog standard PS3, looks better than Last of us, graphics wise which I was surprised the PS3 was capable of!

Techniques have improved a lot since the ps3 came out. State of the art five years ago on the ps3 looks gash now.

Remember, you have a huge market force pushing for better graphics but they're constrained by having to the target the same hardware. Each CoD is just a shinier version than the last. The only escape route for the force of the market is to improve software and more efficiently utilise the hardware available. This is, unsurprisingly, what happens.

Yeah, I understand that...but this still looks too good to be true for PS3 hardware, which is creaky at best now.

Yes and when they pass on all the skills from getting evrry last ounce of performance onto the next gen...looking good.

It will take them a few years to get the best out of the next gen hardware. Some of the games running on the PS2 towards the end of it's life looked (relatively) incredible, compared to what came at the launch.

I'm picturing Andy Millman wearing that girdle as the last gasps of current gen and then next gen is when it breaks and he suddenly has much more space to exist in. But it's still just the same Andy Millman.

Its one of the reasons they decides to make GTA 5 not next gen because they knew after GTA 4 and RDR what makes these current consoles tick, if they had made it for next gen it would be learning new systems all over again.

Will have to see if there's anything new in that. Atleast -seems- that in the online mode you're not forced to a character like in solo mode.

Looks pretty good, liking how open they are making it and adding loads of different gametypes. The race making tools look like fun.
