The ipad is probably fine if your at home chilling out, but are you REALLY gonna walk about town with it like the adverts show? And, NO. Man bags are not cool. Women & gay men & students (who are just silly confused things anyway): handbags, fine.

Been keeping track of Steve Jobs' presentation at WWDC and it's just reminding me why I hate Apple. It's their obsession with using fancy talk to make things out to be more impressive than they actually are. Case in point is their new "Retina display", it's nothing more than a high resolution display but they need to throw in some crap about how it displays more pixels per inch than the retina can allegedly see and give it a cool sounding name.

Like here: Apple (United Kingdom) - iPad - The best way to experience the web, email & photos

"A magical and revolutionary product" ... lol.

At least the "unbelievable price" part is true.

Thing which made me laugh most about his keynote was the introduction of iAds, a wonderful feature of the new OS that allows developers, and presumably Apple, to embed ads directly into the apps on your iphone, ipad, ipod touch etc. So not only do you have the privelege of forking out a small forture on the thing in the first place but then you get to be interrupted by ads while using it.

Yeah I was looking at it wondering if they'd got the letters in the wrong order.

Can't be that different from the way google ads appear in some free apps.

I imagine the way it displays won't be massively different but the "feature" is built into the OS and will no doubt end up displaying ads in things that came with the phone as standard and/or in paid apps. I just find it objectionable to think that I could pay a couple of hundred quid for a phone and then have the OS display ads to me as a feature.

Despite the frothing fanboyism, especially from the mainstream press (who of course, have a vested interest in the iPad being a success - they think), I'm still not feeling the love. On the other hand, I'm quite taken with the Dell Streak, which looks both portable and useful. Of course it needs the Froyo update to be all it can be, but I gather that's already in test.

Bought my GF a Android pad from China for her birthday last week and she loves it, only cost £80 and has more features than the iPad as I take my PC away to LANs it means she can still check her emails and use facebook and youtube without me forking out loads a money for a new PC or Laptop.

Fh thread of the year imo.

And man-bags are not fine and imaxipad never was a product anyone actually needed now it seems everyone and their parents are making a copy of it and sell it to 2year old to grandpa's because they need it.

Like many products its like making a demand, back in the 80's or whenever the first cellphone came ppl didn't really want/need that either they could just go home and make a phone-call. But there is no innovation behind ipad imo, that i can see, its not gonna replace either books or newspapers.

Iphone I would say was a step forward, im from finland and we had lots of those fancy pansy highend nokia phones but frankly that ui/design just always looked crap.
