Fingers crossed I can get in enough overtime this month to buy one.

I can buy it before the money touches my wages. So the money is never in my account a never real money. Taking £500 out of my bank to buy one feels wrong. Doing some extra overtime this month and getting one I can live with. How is it free if you have to work overtime to get your hands on it?
Just touched on this in IRC, I think the Apple TV 3 will actually be good valueApple TV 3 is also on my shopping list as XBMC on it will be sweet. A Raspberry Pi is cheaper but not easier.
With the Raspberry Pi you're gonna have to pick up a keyboard/mouse/SDcard (or USB key)/power source if you've not got them about which will bump up the price. Both will need a HDMI cable or similar and network cable if required.#freddyshouse said:(12:15:48 PM) MYstIC_G: I just like the look of the Apple TV because it is tiny and actually does 1080p now
(12:16:19 PM) MYstIC_G: So while a RaspberryPi is like a good laugh for $35
(12:16:37 PM) DarkHalf: yeah, itll never be a decent media center
(12:16:39 PM) MYstIC_G: The Apple TV does wireless, has storage, has a good looking case, comes with a remote
(12:16:44 PM) DarkHalf: yes
(12:16:56 PM) MYstIC_G: and you know it'll be jailbroken to feck in no time
I bet sometimes he even extends it to "fizzy pop"
Cool logics bro!I can buy it before the money touches my wages. So the money is never in my account a never real money. Taking £500 out of my bank to buy one feels wrong. Doing some extra overtime this month and getting one I can live with.
Well work buy it then maybe I don't pay TAX on that money and maybe I don't pay the VAT, all in all not an insignificant saving I may make.Cool logics bro!
Thank you for providing the stereotypical opinion that people have for RPi. The large majority of people just see "cheap media client".With the Raspberry Pi you're gonna have to pick up a keyboard/mouse/SDcard (or USB key)/power source if you've not got them about which will bump up the price. I think he was only talking in terms of a comparison with the new Apple TV for a XBMC client. He did not say it was pointless. I think they are a great idea and at £30 each the closest we have come yet to putting a PC in every home. With a Linux distro and Open Office what a great little homework machine they will be.Thank you for providing the stereotypical opinion that people have for RPi. Sure, enabling media streaming for your TV is one thing you can do, but there are SO MANY other ideas of what you can do with it.
The idea of the project is to provide accessible electronics for people to come up with inventive solutions.
I'm very excited about it because I've got a number of ideas for mini-projects.
Not sure but won't it appear on your P11D? so technically you will pay tax on it.
Unless ofc you work extra for work equipment.
There may be ways around it though.
So what if the majority see "cheap media client" if that helps fund a project that benefits kids learning at school who are you to jump the fuck up on your high horse? I don't think you'll find I said the Raspberry Pi can only be used for a media client either. My point was that with the Apple TV revamp those who were considering the Pi as a media client might well do better to reconsider the Apple TV for the reasons I already posted above.Thank you for providing the stereotypical opinion that people have for RPi. I am wondering if I should get that instead of a mede8tor
