Now that is a tablet, boot time is incredible, video performance dicks all over anything in that segment of the market. If it ships with that performance it is going to be killer.

Personally, I expect a win8 tablet will be the replacement for my Galaxy Tab. Metro is a great UI. However, MS seem to be betting the farm on it and I think its a mistake to force the Metro UI onto the desktop.

And they are working closely with intel so it might be a custom ivy bridge design.
Definitely keeping an eye on this as a future replacement for my old asus transformer...

The vid says 8 hours, that means 3-4 hours of heavy usage which is fine imo. Would love alot more of course but that kind of speed comes at a price and it is a tradeoff I would make for Ivybridge performance on a tablet. I3, thunderbolt and usb 3 on a tablet though is epic though.

It is not for me. I love my iPad it has apps that let me do things easily. But I still keep a laptop about so I can use it when things get complicated. I will never replace my laptop and iPad with one Windows Tablet. It will take a while before all applications are metro optimised so until then I will stay clear for now.

Yep that is the tradeoff, just remember that 3-4 hours is going to be heavy usage such as video encoding or 3d gaming. The iPad's might manage 2 hours more under those circumstances but the Ivybridge is orders of magnitude more powerful and yet battery life is typically 2/3rd's that of the iPad. Thing is, for normal day to day usage such as web browsing, voip, messenging and listening to music etc I think that 8 hours is more than adequate.

Looks fun.. still resisting the urge to buy a tablet, but beginning to lose that battle. If my Kindle were a little prettier, touchscreen and a better UI (without sacrificing the non-eye bleeding display somehow) then it wouldn't be an issue - I mainly just want to read books.

Are they seriously still pushing Metro for Desktops ? I know they want to try to do something new and innovative to change the PC market.. but it's an odd gamble as I just can't see how it could work.

Plenty of malware on android, probably some on rooted ipads as well. At least with a windows tablet we can get first class anti-virus and firewall protection from third parties.
