Just wondering how one's supposed to lob one's ip to U flimgoblin when its dynamic?

bring up a command prompt (black DOS box) go to start - run- and type in CMD

then type ipconfig /all

it will bring up your ip address and how long your DHCP lease is. Most ISP nowadays give you a longer lease that is linked to your mac address. If your DHCP lease is not going to expire soon then sending in a DHCP address should be ok.

ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 179.16.210.159
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 179.16.210.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 179.16.3.34
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 179.16.3.34
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 28 November 2005 14:13:45
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 06 December 2005 14:13:45

Even if you do not give them your ip address but give them the next on down from your on a ping plot, this is usually your ISP's router which will be static ip address:

Tracing route to www.goa.com [193.252.123.35]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 179.16.5.5 (My ip address)

3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms fw.co.uk [197.128.111.35] (second firewall)
4 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 158.43.48.173 (XXX ISPs Address)

14 58 ms 68 ms 56 ms po9-0.pascr1.paris.opentransit.net [193.251.129.61]

17 238 ms 53 ms 40 ms www.camelot-europe.com [193.252.123.35]
Trace complete.

In fact giving them your own IP address might not be worthwhile as it could be a private address and as such is not routable over the internet or it could be behind a firewall and not respond to ICMP requests etc., what would be better is your ISPs first router (like the one above in bold) as GoA should be able to see this one

ipconfig /all gives you the LAN IP address and not your WAN IP address who i think is the one they need to trace back to

easiest way to obtain your WAN IP address is using www.WhatIsMyIp.com

sounds like an ISP has blacklisted one of GoAs ip addresses for some reason?

Something like this isnt too much to ask imo

[28-11-2005] Network issues

We are aware that a large part of our customers(look it up in a dictionary) are experiencing problems accessing our servers.
Instead of just trying our best to blame it on someone else we are actually looking into this matter.

Some research after bypassing update server with the hint making a .bat file "start login.dll" gives the following results

Update server is 193.252.123.21 (patcher) - No reply

Login servers: 193.252.123.20 - No reply
193.252.123.30 - Reply

By trying all servers i was able to collect the different IP's and avalibility

No reply from:
Prydwen: 193.252.123.33
Excalibur: 193.252.123.33
Avalon: 193.252.123.45
Ys: 193.252.123.12

Reply (was able to connect):
Camlan: 193.252.123.147
Lyonesse: 193.252.123.11
Dartmore: 193.252.123.153
Logres: 193.252.123.134
Stonehenge: 193.252.123.14
Cumbria: 193.252.123.163
Deira: 193.252.123.103
Carnac: 193.252.123.139
Orcanie: 193.252.123.139
Broceliande: 193.252.123.34

I have checked my WAN IP and it's static which could indicate that some IP's has been blacklisted somewhere, and explains why people with dynamic WAN IP's was able to connect after rebooting entire system (probably was given a new WAN IP address)

I'm a TDC customer (Denmark) and has reported this problem yesterday, and the bloke i spooke with couldnt ping patch server either, so they are monitoring this. Can expect answer within 3 days :twak:

I hope this can help solving our problem

GOA and Mythic are two entirely different companies.

I'm online again aswell... seems GOA finaly got the job done... only took them 4 days. Still no official statement, so i guess the GOA policy is that silence is the way to deal with unhappy customers.

I dont blame them for the silence service though, its kinda funny... anyone in the position to try it out should. If somone is angry and upset with you, just stare at them in silence and wait for them to go away... usually works 9 out of 10 times! GO GOA

Maybe Goa should just relocate themselves to a country which doesnt have an infrastructere similar to Timbuktus, Im so fed up and tired with lack of information and Lag within the game no XML, and not taking responsibility for anything. Im not saying the american servers got any problems, but atleast i was very impressed with Mythics way of keeping everyone informed, also when they could they informed of possible problems ahead of time.

The biggest problem about the connection/lag issues on the excal/prydwen server is the very retarded ppl at goa.

I just closed down 10 accounts, bye bye GOA.... now go die!

Three LDs in 5 minutes. Fucking appalling. And this on one of my rare nights off during the week when I was looking forward to a night's playing with my guild.

Many people in my alliance talking about quitting and moving to US servers.

I just want to give you people some information.

Not only DAoC has been affected by this, the Ultima Online Freeshard where im GM also had customers with troubles, however 1 of our admins asked around and found out what our/daocs? problem was.

More login server information.

Ok,

Currently only 1 provider out of 5 is allowing traffic to the core router, I've been told this will be resolved in a few hours, but as it's sunday and 00:00 now.

I would guess around 6 AM :/
Added: (Login is now backup!)

Some people can connect, some can't.

The shard is running fine.

Please bare with us.

This is from a FREE UO shard... we give better information than GOA... thats friggin scary, and should never be that way. They get paid, we do not, and yet we supply better customer support. Great.
