Just got my email from Amazon, they are sending out Windows 7 copies using Home Delivery Network and not Royal Mail! Thank Christ for that, the amount of stuff that gets stolen via RM is just silly.

Hmmm, didn't get e-mail but my Amazon order is also in transit with Home Delivery Network according to the site. Not that I'll have anything to install it on for a couple of months :).

Got mine from PC World delivered yesterday morning. Nice.

Not tried that much with it yet but interwebs on IE8 are well quick.

Firefox is better just because of the Adblock extension.

I think my DVD has chosen a fine time to go on the fritz. While i am at the very early installation process for Windows 7, it just becomes unresponsive.

Its the bit where it says its loading Windows, then it gives you the mouse cursor and the colourful background. It just sticks on that. The DVD isnt even spinning or lighting up.

Is this a fault with the DVD Rom? Or when others have installed Win 7 has it just taken years to load through?

Supposedly it is the quickest windows installer to date. Are you running it from within windows or straight off the DVD? If off the DVD and you're upgrading, try running it from within windows.

Nah its going to be a full reinstall since i am on WinXP at the moment, so im doing a complete format of the system.

It did eventually load in after about 5minutes or more, but then it went straight to installing Win7, think i'll read up some on formatting and partitioning and whatnot.

Quite honestly bodes, if you can't figure out "Ubuntu Language" what in gods name are you doing using it :D I can't get any simpler than "install it, follow the instructions" because if I can install them, just about any bugger can :D

Installed it, Jesus, this is a massive massive step up from Windows XP.

I was being serious dude. Use the installer, make sure you pick the "sort out my own partitions" option, it should just let you nuke the Win7 from orbit.

Any specific reason for Ubuntu btw?

Nothing special, just fancy a change of 2nd OS. It seems fairly pointless having Vista and 7 on one PC, so I'd like to nuke 7 and stick with Vista. It ain't broke....

Well... it appears I will have an extra copy. Ordered one "home" edition from Amazon after ebuyer told me they were out of stock... Ebuyer have just confirmed they have shipped me two copies of the "pro" edition.

Anyone want a copy of pro at the pre order price + shipping?

Try Linux Mint then mate, from what I've seen it's Ubuntu but with useful things like preinstalled codecs for audio video, etc, etc.

How much is that?

Edit - and is that for 64 bit?

Yes it's 64bit, the retail DVD's have both versions on the same disc.

It's £80 + shipping iirc
