How long does this usually last, or is it dependant on the individual. I read something about it being your bodies way of catching up to it's changing shape?

Lost 8kg in one month two weeks so far :D

I've been told conflicting things too, I started to add some resistance training because this increases your post kcal burn or something? Would i be better of dropping the weights and doing "self weight" training, sit ups/push ups/planks etc..?

Cheers

If you're doing weight training at the moment rather than bodyweight exercises, then continue with it. It will produce a greater post-exercise energy consumption as you say.

If you're not losing weight, then your intake is equal to your expenditure. You need to either drop the kcals further or increase your output.

Simple thermodynamics ;)

Well i've increased the intensity of the training I do and eat what I was eating before.

I thought you body plateau'd because it thinks its starving?

Read the other day that if i increase kcal intake slightly it will kick start weight loss again cause the body will be tricked into thinking its not starving or something?

This whole training things is getting more complicated...

(wishes he could go back to just cardio :D!)

O there was something about increasing protein aswell? What exactly does protein do and if i buy some protein stuff that will make me put on weight right? (I guess that sort of thing is when I finish the weight loss and move on to toning/gain?)

Buying protein powder will do no different than if you were eating the equivalent in chicken/beef/eggs or whatever. Weight gain, or weight loss, come from eating a surplus of calories or putting yourself in a deficit.

If you've been dieting strictly for a long time without any cheats/treats then it might help to cut loose for a day or two because it can invoke some hormone changes - going into a surplus to replenish stored carbohydrate will help bounce these hormones back up.

I see, had a few drinks and some cheeky take outs last week, so might notice a drop this week.

Cheers for the help.

How long have you stopped loosing it for, if it's only a week or so I'd ignore - noticed sometimes when loosing weight it stops for week or so on the scales even tho looking in the mirror the fat's still coming off.

Not always a bad sign anyhow, when I started swimming I stopped loosing weight for a couple of weeks, same after changing my cycling from casual runs to interval traning and grinding up hills - both I think built some mucle bulk up. Likewise, I cut down cycling aload before Christmas and lost 2-3 kg but didn't change my diet much - it is actually muscle sometimes!
