Personally, I dont rate Oveereem one bit. Lost to a load of marginally better than average fighters, then went on a winning streak against bums

Years ago mate. Go back, look at the record and watch the vids, he was raw and alot smaller. These days the guy has much imrpoved technique, incredible speed for a guy his size but also the strength to go with that size. Add in his striking and Reem is a real contender, he might not have the all round game but he is very very dangerous. Oh and as for bums, he didn't beat bums to become K1 champ or even DREAM champ really.

Last time he lost it was 2007 and he was a scrawny 205lbs. Sergei Kharitonov is no bum either, since then he bulked up, went on a tear and captured k-1 grand prix title. His striking is the best in the heavyweight div, let alone mma, kickboxing also. His ground game is also pretty sweet now also, hes a monster. he beat the shit out of Chuck in Chucks heyday, gassed and chuck lucked out and landed the overhand right.

Overeem will be on a tear this year, people are just not sure how he can handle the 300lbs wrestlers. I think he will do fine, Werdum is as good as dead, won't have the same luck he had last time. Still has a chance though, not writing him off yet ...

Arg, no way hes gonna strike with Diaz and Diaz wrestling sucks, gonna be a snooze fest for 5 rounds. Diaz has very good BJJ but doubtful enough to catch GSP off his back, BJ got nulled.

He will strike with Diaz and beat him up badly, no one expected him to stay on his feet with Shields but he did and dominated that too. GSP has spent a ton of time working on his boxing, the jab is opening up people for fun ala his last two fights. GSP is going to smash him around for a while, take him to the floor and show him why wrestling > BJJ in MMA. :p ;) :D

No chance in hell, Diaz is great striker and Shields beat up GSP pretty badly ... Look at who he has beat on his feet, Daley was slated to be the best striker at WW.

GSP couldn't finish a steak, let alone threaten Diaz on the feet. He'll lay on him for 5 rounds guaranteed, him and Fitch are P4P most boring fighters in MMA.

Eh? He did nothing to GSP besides a nice little eye-poke. The judges scores were downright odd, Shields at best won a single round and that only came when GSP was fighting with fucked depth perception due to the eye damage. In striking terms GSP dominated him, the stats show it as does Shields face from round one onwards. Two fights ago everyone was saying that GSP is one dimensional but he obilterated Koscheck was an outstandingly disciplined strinking display was easily blocking all his takedown efforts.

It was almost exactly the same fight with Shields, scared the shit of him with the jab, threw some good overhand rights before his eye was damaged and totally negated both Shields BJJ and takedowns. Yes, Diaz is a better striker than those two but he is also more reckless, Daley could have finished him if he had been braver and went for the kill when the opening was there, GSP will not make the same mistake though and when the opening comes GSP will put him on his back before punching his face of the front of his head. :)

GSP should crush Diaz barring a fluke KO.

I'm more excited about Silva crushing Okami, I know he's going to get rolled but I'm an Okami fan.

I dunno, I have a feeling Okami might just produce something in this one, certainly hope so.

Great finish to the Ultimate Figher season. Was sad to see Chuck lose, Ferguson really is a an evil fucker and deserved to get his face smashed in but I have to admit that he was totally in control and took the win convincingly. That bloke kicks and punches with total malice, if he wasn't so one dimensional I think he could been a top contender. Very very suprised Chuck didn't attempt any takedowns, it was obvious Ferguson was the superior striker so why not try test his ground game? So far all we have seen is people try to stand and bang with him before getting smashed.

Anyway, looking forward to the final. Ramsay is a talented wrestler with decent striking, if he manages a takedown I can see Ferguson losing this. If it stays standing though Ferguson will win, I don't see Ramsay taking many of those leg kicks and cross rights.

Just watched it, my trainer woulda had a fit watching that. Cope weathered the storm, Ramsey was fading mentally and gasing, he never pulled the trigger? throw some combos, back him up, put some fuckin pressure on him ...

Chuck, well, Tony is the far superior striker but still not very good. The straight right counter was there every time he leg kicked him. It's like the first thing you learn in kickboxing? He didn't even try to check the kicks or circle away, got me angry because not once did he shoot. His corner should have told him to shoot and to counter the leg kick, his left hand came down every single time.

It's MMA and if the other guy is beating the fuck out of you in striking, TAKE IT DOWN OR AT LEAST TRY FFS :(

Yeah I was suprised by Cope, he had weathered the worst of it and when the gaps started apppearing he refused to attack any. Weak.

As for Chuck, your analysis is bang on, much as I like the lad there are glaring holes especially on the leg kicks which really put him off his game because he just didn't defend them properly. As you said, no counter punching to at least make him pay for those kicks is very sad, all because he didn't take them right and attack the space.

Most frustrating thing is and i'm finding it a lot lately. Is people are getting seriously out classed on the feet and they refuse to even attempt a shot. Same with Shields, he has shit hands, GSP is crap too but hes still a better striker. Not once (I think) did I even see Shields attempt a take down, hes a grappler.

Whole point of MMA is to mix it, be unpredictable and any pro kickboxer would ktfo out of Tony. Making serious mistakes in his defense while throwing and he still looked perfect. All because Chuck wasn't threatening with anything and let Tony just t off on him. Nice head movement and sharp timing by Tony though, shame hes still a knob.

I'm not sure on final, looks like Ramsey has no heart, not a fighter (great athlete though) and will quit easy. If he stuffs a couple shots, will be a easy 1st or 2nd round KO imo.

Finale was interesting

Chris vs Chuck, kinda sucked and I just wanted it to finish. Chuck really needs to focus on getting some technique.

Kingsbury vs the brazil guy that KTFO out of mcsweeney, good fight but I'm not sure if Kingsbury won. Apart from the very poor thai clinch (poor technique, took a lot of shots) he got a beating. The Brazilian pro boxer needs to train some Muay Thai and work on his defense, he could be great.

Guida, fuck hes so boring and a one trick pony .... :(

Main event, how fucking stupid is Ramsey? Lets run at the striker and throw stupid no technique flurry's and gas my self out. Was just a matter of time ...

Ok event, but please feed Guida to one of the top 3 at LW already, I love seeing him getting his ass kicked.

Can't wait for strikeforce tourny this month, should be fucking epic. Unless UFC decide to run it in the ground, with their "help". SF matchmakers are already gone :(

They already are, taking Diaz was just the second move in getting rid of Strikefore. The first was laying off more than half the Strikeforce staff recently. Poor Scott Coker did not look happy at all, he knows Dana is a merciless fucker, just look at how he pissed on the legacy of WEC by stealing Pettis's title shot by cooking the booking. Not impressed, UFC is not delivering anything like what it should be for the top organisation.

First fight - What a load of shit, how fucking boring, over matched to shit and still can't even attempt to finish. This shit never happens in SF, that's why I hate the UFC lately.

Maia and Munoz - Maia Robbed? How did Munoz win that fight? 1st round Maia and 2/3rd draw tops, maybe 2nd Munoz. Lol at the judge that scored it 30-27, what a useless fucking a knob.

Peewee vs Einemo - Fucking great fight :D

Florian vs Nunes - Pretty accurate, but again, the 3rd judge scored it 30 - 27, don't see how Florian won the first ...

JDS vs Carwin, Awesome first round, fuck the fight should have been stopped, went just as I thought. JDS = epic nice guy, but what a fucking animal of a striker, can't see him TKO out of cain.

Stout vs Edwards - Sleepy?

Was crazy that JDS/Carwin wasn't stopped in the first round. Great card all round, really entertaining fights. Definitely agree about Cerrone, he could have won the fight at any time. When there is a bonus on the line for finishing the fight why was he content to just piss around with the other guy? Very strange.

Nah I thought Herb Dean got it spot on, he could have stopped it but felt it was just about safe to continue and he was proven 100% right.

Well what did Carwin do for the next two rounds? Landed one solid punch and one takedown and the rest of the time backed up and got beat up. You're certainly correct that it was viable for the fight to continue, but I think it was pretty unnecessary.

I agree, looked to me like he wasn't even in the fight after that. Was just waiting for it to be over and he wasn't intelligently defending him self during the beating. Just because some guys can take it, doesn't make it ok to let them go on.

Can I blow my nose? How many times did he ask, he was done already. Lucky for him he didn't take another beating in the 2nd because JDS was tired. I betting Brock was sitting at home, thanking his divertitis or what ever he has lol :p
