If you are unfamiliar with the works of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, then read no further, or rather, go and read some of it, you have about 20 books to get through.

The Science of Discworld was first issued some time back and is a collaboration of Terry Pratchett and one or more scientists, basicially a short story is interwoven with scientific explainations in a sort of "Dummys Guide" format, very similar, but not as complex, as A Brief History Of Time.

This represents the third incarnation of the same story, the science part covers evolution, time travel and mathematical infinity.

It would be highly advisable to have read the first two books in the series as they all refer to "Roundworld", an artifically created universe not totally unlike ours contained in a small globe in the Unseen University and managed by the wizards and Hex, their magical supercomputer, who has now taken on a personality to rival the Librarian.

In the previous book, the Elves made a comeback from Lords and Ladies as the villians of the piece, this time round it's the Auditors from Thief of Time, interfering with Darwin.

The story is vintage Pratchett, the science is excellent.

Always found this guy's writing irritating. That might just be me though. I might delve deeper and read some more.
