4) Story arc. You say this, but we had an alien race in S1 that went absolutely nowhere. Not much of an arc, more like a cliff face.

Unless of course Chloe's remarkable recovery from being shot is because of something those aliens did to her...

Seemed like filler to me.
What about the storyline driver that if they ever return to this/catch up to the other seed ship(s) that they may have another possible way home?

Perhaps pokemon style if they "catch" all the seed ships maybe they can just fly destiny itself back to earth? Maybe it's Rush's destiny to pilot destiny home?

The energy stuff someone mentioned can easily be explained away. Seed ships build superconducting stargates, need to charge them before it drops them, ergo seed ship needs massive power reserves. Perhaps as the seed ships were already in this part of the galaxy before destiny arrived they also need FTL themselves, yada yada yada.

As for your 4) ST^ did you ever think that maybe "miracle heal" Chloe is one of the water aliens from S1? It seems dodgy to me that after being in every single fucking episode last season when there wasn't even a need most times that she's now kind being dropped into the background?

That said, that is what I like about SG:U. That it drops stuff in through pretty mundane avenues and then blows them up in your face later.

1) We're no further forward with the Lucian Alliance compared with the episode before. Their leader guy had a nice chat with doctor girl which lead to them receiving some blankets. What did I miss? Oh, and why the fuck is Earth worried about the Lucian Alliance? Ships kitted out with Asgard shit & Atlantis vs. shitty Goa'uld tech. Not much of a fight if you ask me.

2) Rush mentalness, again, we don't actually know anything we didn't know one episode ago.

3) New variables? Like what? The seed ship is already gone. As far as Destiny is concerned, nothing has changed.

4) Story arc. You say this, but we had an alien race in S1 that went absolutely nowhere. Not much of an arc, more like a cliff face.

The only important thing that happened was meeting the new aliens, and imo they could've given us a bit more than that.

Well even if i'm no turnbased cooling device;

1: Trust is being built, discussions about it were had in the hydroponic lab. Hihi, rhymey. The Earthlings are worried about any hostile alien crew(well known from SG-1 and SG-A; f.e. genii) and any threat is a threat, especially if they are working guerilla/undercover tactics.

2: We know that he's willing to drop the crew going home for his cause(what i'm thinking is; timetravel to get his wife back).

3: Original owners of the ship being out there, alive. Ancients being alive is rather big of a variable.

4: Just because things went nowhere in X, doesn't mean it's gonna go nowhere in Y. Not that i agree with the SG1 analysis, but still.

This episode brought back some much needed life into SGU, alien life that is and made the show more universy then just "peeps on a ship". This episode was(what i complained about before) destiny reliant, not "can happen anywhere".

All in all season 2 is looking a lot better, getting into the stargate groove, even if ep2 was bit of a let down.

Show needs mroe haha's though. Not over the top chuck hahas, but a bit.

What I want to know is why we aren't seeing more of Lt. James.

On topic however, not sure how to take this season, kind of interesting but if they've found the seeding ship that Destiny apparently follows, does that mean there'll be no more stargates? Are there more ships? It's not really been specified how many there are unless I've missed something?

I'm fairly sure they said there were 3 seeding ships but this could have been when Rush lied.

They said ships, plural. They didn't say how many.

And even then it's a hypothesis that there'e more then one.

Only thing we can say for sure that there's atleast one seed ship built and launched :p

No, I'm pretty sure that in the first season Dr Rush established that the Ancients had sent out more thank one seed ship ahead of destiny - contingency against failures.

You'd need a nerd to go check that though.

Ah might be true. Then we'd need another nerd to determine if it was speculation by Rush part or fact :p

It's an american drama series, only the first and last episodes of each season actually progress the story at all

I thought it was 5 seed ships?

Someone obviously has to go re-watch the first couple of episodes where the Seed Ships would have been explicitly mentioned and report back.

I did check Wikipedia... they only said "Several ships were sent ahead of it to seed the universe with Stargates.", no cite.

Well, nothing really to say.

Wish they'd cut out with the one tree hill crap, especially the slightly immersion breaking "sad faces at end with some indie emo band playing".

Otherwise, basic continuity on all fronts. He does x, he doesn't trust y and Z takes a step forward.

And for pete's sake use the stones by all means, but leave it in the background.

Fucking musical montages are pissing me off. Oh hay we still have 3 minutes to fill, LETS ADD SOME MUSIC!

I kinda realised that Rush (and his progress with Destiny) is the only reason I watch it. I don't like the other characters and I don't like their personal storyline stuff.

Also, Brody needs Eli's help? Eli is just a mathematician. How did he overtake a Stargate scientist at science shit?

Enjoying this season very much, its much darker than the other Stargate spin-offs and has genuine depth to it. Won't suit everybody who likes science fiction, particularly just those that like big bangs and gun-fights, but for the rest of us it is quite enjoyable.

That's bullcrap, always has been. Just because someone enjoys shows with big bangs and gunfights, doesn't mean they have a shallow taste, or that the original spinoff shows lacked depth.

"The rest of us", pssh. If you didn't mean to sound elitist, fair enough, but you did.

Anyway, last episode;

Not sure about it, seemed like 40 minutes of plot device to get the blood into him. Even if it was an interesting enough episode, now that the show has branded itself as a full-on linear thing, these kind of episdes don't work that well anymore.

Funny fact; the movie theatre in cloverfield is(atleast looks) identical to the talon in Smallville ;)

Don't be silly, Stargate was fun but it was waifer thin. SGU is going down a different road as they tried to repeat the formula with Atlantis and it, relatively, bombed. I'm enjoying SGU a lot.

Episode was shite. I skipped all of the 'meh' parts (you know what I'm talking about), so it only took about 15 minutes to watch the whole thing.

All the parts where Matt's sub-concious was telling him that Chloe was not what she appeared, that she was still part alien. Yeah all those "meh" parts.

Lots's of symbolism in Matt's dreams, did you notice all the circular objects around? Especially in Rush's office.

Thought it was a strong filler episode, and the cheesy plants were great.

Well compared to SGU, it's like comparing a wafer and a ritz when depth comes to play :p

I wouldn't know, after the first few meh-parts I stopped watching them. Even knowing what you just said now doesn't make me wish I watched it. In fact, makes me even more glad that I skipped it.

Drivel episode and the way the just fell off his arm at the end made me cringe

Not gonna use spoilers, if anyone reads my post before watching episode 5 then they'll know just to skip it

I thought it was an alright episode.

There was some quite nice allegorical stuff going on :)
