Well, yes, it is darker and has a more adult feel to it. But it is still Stargate.

Not really. Name and gate travel(when they feel like it), that's about it.

They made themselves look like "heavy entertainment" and now expect to get away with light entertainment plot devices? Please.

These kind of things, in old stargate, would've been fine as you didn't take the show taht seriously. This show is expected to be taken as such, yet now starts to act like the old one when the writers realise "Oh sh*t f*ck! We need xyz! But we lost all those in our dark writing frenzy!"

Bad writing, simple as that.

As soon as things "come back" out of the blue, shows lose the edge, happened the moment Starbuck re-appeared in BSG....

Yes but Toht is missing a big point

They didn't come back; they were re-animated corpses, walking dead. They did not survive, they were already dead. There was no magic you are saved moment. Infact it dispelled TJ's believe that her baby was safe with them, she clearly did not visit those left on the planet - it could be some other force that has her baby if she's alive.

Those all powerful aliens who created world's still had limits, they can't give life back.

Also, Toht stop watching, as you clearly dislike the whole premise

Actually i'm not missing any point.

It's quite clear that they were re-animated, the point wasn't just towards that episode. It's about nothing being in danger when they bring everything back and find stuff when the need rises. The episode was a plot device to bring a shuttle back for example, which was another case of bullcrap. It goes in a non serious show like the old SG, but since they are so trying to make something different(and did in season 1), these kinds of things don't cut it anymore.

I don't dislike the premise, the premise is irrelevant actually, but if you can't see the problems they have, you're simply a fanboi who can't accept any fault in the show. Not to mention, you don't ask me to quit watching the show when i say something nice about it :p

Ladidaa, go figure.

FYI; the last guy did survive as the aliens popped over before he froze to death. But ofcourse he'll be dead 'cause that's the way they roll.

You're quite an arrogant asshole if you think i missed that.

I enjoyed the last few episodes. While some of the storytelling devices are a bit hackneyed and yes, there are a lot of gaps in credibility, they are better *stories* than the first few episodes of this series. Series 2 was rapidly heading towards the "Bored, not watching any more" pile but these episodes have been... welll...

Fun.

Regardless of his fighting abilties (or lack thereof), the final encounter between Rush and Mr. Lucian Alliance (thats pretty much an indication of how generic the characters are, I can't even remember the guy's name) is awesome. No rhetoric, just a bullet in the face delivered by Rush. That was great.

"I have information..."
Boom. Headshot.

Awesome.

And while yes, you wouldn't want the scriptwriters planning any real world battles, at least there was some action in this episode.

Some of the issues though are more down to really bad editing. For example, when those 3 marines are sneaking up on Generic Lucian Alliance Guy, they have an eternity of warning before the decoy explodes. I'm pretty confident real soldiers would not be quite so slow to get the hell out of there. This segment is an example of shoddy editing - it could have been much tighter, allowing for less time between the warning and the boom. and so being more believable as soldiers being out-thought.

Still enjoying it, but I agree with many of Tohts points about some things being weak compared to the first season.

To be continued! Fairly fun episode, very star trek like in the plot. I am assuming the will lose the seed ship.

Yeap, good episode. Things starting to actually happen :p

Though two things are bothersome; the blatant reason for the shuttle recovery(just to activate the drones i assume :eek7:), which seemed like something that could've been written differently and that the alienchick is turning a bit too much into a stereotype. Missing that she was played by summer glau... :D

Say what now ? IMDB disagrees with you... or are you just saying that you'd have preferred if she HAD been played by Summer Glau ?

Meant that the only thing missing from the "little girl suddenly kicking ass in sci-fi series" stereotype is that she would be played by glau :D

No more episodes until Spring 2011.

Highly annoying that they split a season so far apart.

It's not a suprise really the show has just no direction at all most of the episodes have been set on the ship with barely no planetary exploration at all.

Not sure what they were trying to create with the show but they failed.

I can't see the point in having tv with intelligence and proper plots. Lets just have lots of Big Brother clones with semi-naked wannabees.

So Warehouse 13 got renewed and this didn't? Haven got renewed and this didn't?

Makes little sense to me, thought viewing figures were good for this as well.

Thank god. It was bad to begin with, not worthy of the Stargate name anyway.

Good riddance.

Was this TV with intelligence then? Overweight geek, female eye candy with big jugs, gung-ho military types, never ending supply of anonymous 'security' types to be blown away etc.

The plots seemed to consist of a lot of navel gazing and letting one of the actors direct is always fatal.

It had aspirations of being intelligent but ditched them fairly early on. Shame as I love my Sci-fi but I kinda expected it.

Anyone who thinks quality is an indicator of whether a show is about to be axed is fooling themselves tho. The shows exist for one reason: to sell advertising. Period.

Compared to most of the utter shit that is on tv now. The only new entertainment shows that I watch regularly are Stargate Universe and Chuck, the rest is rubbish.

There was a proper plot in SGU, proper relationships between the cast, lots of depth to the show and there had been some very good episodes. But yes, lets cancel it and have some more reality TV crap.

Not suprised, bit sad as there were things I liked and Robert Carlyle is brilliant in everything but the story just didn't move at any pace plus there felt like alot of stuff was just thrown in as filler.

Shame but the golden era of American TV is over imho, too many good shows have been killed in favour of teen programing or reality bullshit.

Shame it seems to be getting somewhere after it's been canned ;)

Long wait and finally when it gets interesting, stop.

Perfect end i guess.
