I guess it's a ploy to help them get renewed for a second series but for fans it's annoying as f**k

Best case - wait a year for the conclusion
Worst case - series doesnt get renewed and you're left with the cliffhanger ending

Stupid US TV Execs >.<

Well good to see others get annoyed too.

Something storywise finally happened(no i don't mean "ooh someone is preggers!"), and it's STILL just an excuse to talk about feelings(so bored at the two teenagers crying in the hallway) and then they end what action/plot is left at that.

Stargate used to be quite manly of a show(no ultimate fighter, but surely no bold & eautiful), along with guns and explosions and spaceships going woosh, now with all the drama and taok about feelings, it's like twilight in space at times.

No doubt Toht is bitch fitting about the ending of a series he totally doesn't watch that should be exactly like every other Stargate series... oh wait, maybe that shit is what got Atlantis canned...

Anyway, that's a pretty big cliff hanger and tbh I think it makes for a lot stronger series. The fact that they keep finding Icarus planets however it total pish. Lucian alliance could have easily been left for seasons before we saw them again out of the blue.

I think it's good to see Ely coming out of his shell, he's been by far one of the most annoying characters with his references to facebook and shit.

I've not watched it yet, but I hope they don't end the season with the issue being resolved!!!

I want a proper story arc, the events of the last two have provided a much needed get away from the ships crew and stopping off at other planets.

People are so quick for things to be finished off.

Toht you've been moaning since the start, you still watch it so it's clearly not as bad as you want us to believe.

Atlantis was gash let it go.

I'm commenting the show on it's own merits, the lacking abilkity to take ANY slack towards the show is called being a fanboi, muchos of that in your tones while bashing the show yourself.

Panties, unbunch, have a pint and so on.

They are already filming season 2 and have been for a while.

I liked the finale - best episode yet and they have clearly been learning from BSG.

I'm still not sure where they are going with the show's premise, but I'm happy for the writers to drag me along for the ride as there isn't much else on atm in the way of sci-fi.

I thought it was great, a long story arc and a great cliff-hanger. Exactly the kind of thing that made babylon 5 the best sci-fi series to grace our screens.

The story arc is as long as James' norks are large.

God bless her holy norkage!

Liked it a lot :)

I'm also not going to piss and moan about there being a cliffhanger. I prefer things that way anyway - leaves you wanting more.

I'm also happy that the producers are OK with doing 3 or 4-episode plotlines. Much more interesting stories to be had that way IMHO...

:)

It seems that many people here have short attention fans and need to know everything now. Long story lines are how TV should be.

Long story lines yes ... splitting them over season breaks not so much.

Yeah, I'll give you that. But it's the nature of advertising-driven programming.

They figure out what they want to sell and to whom, then they make a program that will capture that demographic.

I was quite surprised to find that out, rather than it being the other way round...

I hated the ending - the final plot with the alliance getting on the ship felt tagged on and a step backwards from some of the earlier better episodes.

Such a shame - I thought it showed a lot of promise at points but I now have no desire to watch anymore of it.

I've loved the series so far, but the plot arc with the Lucian alliance just hasn't interested me at all. It just seems so mundane, good guys vs bad guys; plus the fact that i've got no attachment to any of the Lucian alliance characters what so ever - I just want something a bit different. I suppose the benefit of that is that I really don't mind waiting for the next season as the outcome of their current predicament is rather predictable.

I know what you mean, it's kinda of like why I dislike having the communication stones at all

They're billions of light years from earth but still dealing with boring local issues and enemies!

Overall, I really liked the last 3 episodes. They crammed a lot in. The touchy-feely stuff wasn't too over cringe-making.

I really like what they did with Lou Diamond Phillip's char and loved how the shootout with boss Lucian was used to make things even more tense rather than resolving it.

I was hoping they'd really crazy up the mix by having the aliens return in the middle of it all and make it a three-way battle. On the otherhand, since they left it on a cliffhanger that would be a great way to move things in unexpected directions and sidestep a formulaic resolution with the Lucians. I loved the way the hostage exchange was made nastier by the Lucians. Shades of 24 there. I hope its a sign of things to come. Very down and dirty.

When the Lucian equivilent of a redshirt got fried at the door, I was really hoping it was Destiny doing it or those blue aliens were back. Maybe they'll save something like Destiny waking up for further down the line.

Great fun.

Until SG:U and Chuck return, there's the awesomeness of Burn Notice to be going on with :)

Ah yes, I was wondering if that was the dude who disappeared in the chair being somehow still alive in the system and having a hand in things. Obviously not ... yet ....

Hmmm, think I just spotted a bad plot point/hole. If Destiny dropped out of FTL when the Lucians dialled... would it do that for any dialling to the ship? In which case you'll never get stuck on a planet, just dial again, and this also means the aliens could drop them out of FTL at any time. I'd guess the way around this is to say it's only the inter-galactic dialling that does this, for whatever handwavey technobabble reason.

They explained it in the first few episodes Athan, they need massive power to lock the 9th chevron, hence the unstable naqeda filled planets to dial a gate that is moving at FTL.

I thought that only explained how they managed to get a wormhole to go so damned far, not how it managed to knock Destiny out of FTL to complete the connection. I'm going here on how they needed the ZPM for them to get to Atlantis to start SG:A off, and indeed needed a special device cobbled together by O'Neill to make it to the Asgard's galaxy in SG-1. The greater power requirement is so as to achieve greater distance.

Of course if you go on SG-1 then managing to get a WH to a moving target (above a certain relative speed) plain isn't possible anyway, hence all the updates stuff for the gradual drift of planet-based gates.

Like I said, it's a plot hole and likely only covered by techno-babble.

Possibly more of a science hole than plot but I never take canon in SG or any of its spin offs too seriously. Its not well enough written generally to get too hung up on stuff like that.

I'd be surprised if SG:U runs for more than 3 seasons and wouldn't be shocked if it got no further than 2. I like it but they need more of the shenanigans stuff if they want to make a series set in a locked location work. If you sacrifice an epic canvas (ok, the backdrop is the whole universe but the focus is mostly just the ship interior) its not unreasonable to expect intensity.

There's glimmerings of greatness in SG:U but it seems like they are afraid to follow through most of the time. I hope they lose that fear in season 2 or it will get stale quite fast.

I'm sure it only drops out of FTL if your dialing direct using all 9 chevrons, otherwise it's just being dialed normally and won't work.

Maybe the 9th chevron activates some sort of over-ride protocol?

*shrug*

Erm, maybe it's just simply programmed to do that for wormholes from other galaxies. Remember the ancients programmed it so they must have needed it to do it's thing if they ever wanted to catch it up.

Now if we can come up with explanations easily enough it makes me wonder why the writers didn't lampshade it.

Awesome. Hopefully there will be no stupid season split this time!
