Looks like the show is stepping out of the introduction shoes, which is good. I know some people like lengthy arcs of character dev, but this season looks like both parties get what they want.

Ofcourse it's just a trailer as said :p

That "lift hand at camera" thing was quite familiar though, from firefly? :D

Looks good, don't know what actually changed, but seems better then the previous season.

Maybe a bit more techy and actiony? Who knows, better is better.

There's still parts that i don't prefer, but they aren't in such a big role that they annoy.

That was a very good season opener,
the new Lucien Alliance crew members should be interesting. Betting on a love interest between their leader bloke and TJ.

Not watched it yet, but I loved the way the tension built up over the whole first series.

I was constantly checking the clock to see how long was left for me to watch, during the final episode!

Looking forward to the new one!

Awesome
Anyone else wondering if the "cloud" is something to do with the ascended ancients? The whole "they did this for us" and "you made your choice" bits reeked of the non-interference that was entrenched in SG-1. Maybe ascending isn't to a higher plane of existence but to one further out?

I hope not, i'd like them to keep clear of involvement with Ancients, ascended or otherwise. Think providing the people on the planet with homes to live in and saving the life of TJ's baby would pretty be going against any sort of non-interference rule anyway.

I think it'll be very hard to avoid involvement with the Ancients. It's an Ancient ship for a start so that will always keep the door open.

As for what I was getting at, while it may not be correct, it's not like they didn't throw in this angle before though. When Annubis destroyed the planet Abydos in SG-1, Oma helped them all ascend, remember? This would explain why Tamara's kid was helped and she wasn't because she chose not to take their offer.

I think the Lucien Alliance will also be very interesting, I wonder if they will become the muscle behind Camile's and/or Rush's repeated attempts to control the ship?

T'bird and I both thought this episoed was a bit convenient in places.

Seriously. Last episode of last season and the two stuck outside the ship are about to be "fried alive" by the radiation. Rush can see no way out. Very emotional n' all that. So what do they do?

Yep, walk underneath the ship. Don't get me wrong, it's what the bird and I were screaming at last season - but it was a bit obvious.

Handy way of getting rid of the baby too. To be fair, this was a good move - I hate kids and it'd just be a pain in the ass in terms of storyline, so I'm glad they got rid of it. But *handy* eh? :)

Seems like a bit of the old stargate writing's creeping back in ;)

Thought it was a great return!!!

The intro alone reminding me how the last two episodes went, had me hooked in 15 seconds.

Two big thumbs up from me!!!!!!

Interesting episode for certain.

Was a bit "meh" moment when there was yet another left behind thing, but luckily it was just every day life instead of a "major" plot twist. Getting left behind seems to be the bread and butter in that ship :p

The guy dying was a bit weird and to me felt like they more and more showed the guy, gave him lines etc to make the death seem more emotional. Ofcourse it can be just that the guy dropped off the show, but in any case, seemed a bit forced.

Hoping the thing they're heading for is more interesting then "Oh noes, we is about to hit that thing, we must divert course" and then the solution is "Destiny fixed it itself".

Great ep, poor guy.

Riley was a good character, a fair bit of involvement. Glad they killed off a regular fringe character rather than a nobody.

The thing with the Lucien survivors was good. Going to be a lot of tension.

Rush as usual was awesome. The questions around his sanity are great.

Episode 3: Really good, well paced.

the aliens were a nice touch, the shot of the stargate factory was very cool. Rush just keeps pushing the limits.

I guess you say it best when you say nothing at all, so my comments are;

I dunno. If this episode didn't actually happen, pretty much nothing would be different. Except

Telford is gone.

Seemed like filler to me.

What? You don't think Telford's going to show up at some future point with his new alien buddies and use their force to take over Destiny ?

I do wonder what's finally going to force Young to make peace with and utilise the Lucien folk....

Nah I didn't mean to imply that, it couldn't be more obvious that he'll be returning. Not sure those aliens are actually hostile, though...

Don't think this needs spoiler tags, but why must that guy who played t-bag in Prison Break be in EVERY US sci-fi / action series now? I hate him! Argh! Hope he doesn't last long in SGU.

*checks IMDB*

Oh him. I know him from the final season of Heroes. He does seem somewhat belligerent still and one of the less likely to survive/be tolerated Lucien people. So cross your fingers he gets a bullet in the head before long, eh ?

(Note, I quite liked him in Heroes.)

What? I think he's proper cool. Robert Knapper I think.

ST^ hardly filler, more towards a resolution to the lucient problem, more of Rush's mentalness, new variables introduced.. Remember SGU is building a story arc, it's not just quick hits, and it should be applauded for that

I thought the same, they did not seem hostile, they did not kill anyone even though they had the chance. If that seed ship had failed within range of destiny, then I think it's safe to assume it's been there bloody ages. So we can probably assume those aliens have been in hibernation on it for ages - the ship surely stopped seeding due to their arrival?

Just in case...
How could Destiny + seedship = enough juice for a transgalactic puddle home?
It took the entire energy of a PLANET to power the gate that got them on Destiny in the first place.

When they were redirecting power away from the seedship, the aliens stopped the flow and reversed it. They sucked a chunk of power from Destiny. Destiny can recharge in a sun. Seedship now has the juice to get moving again.

They (Telford + his new friends) will be back. :)

*handwave* 'cos they said so. (Maybe Seed Ships have much more energy storage, or it's more a problem of how fast you can feed the power to the gate, or ...).

I could babble on for ages about possible explanations and what might happen in the future but it'd really just be mental masturbation. I'll wait and see what the writers actually decide(d already) happens.

1) We're no further forward with the Lucian Alliance compared with the episode before. Their leader guy had a nice chat with doctor girl which lead to them receiving some blankets. What did I miss? Oh, and why the fuck is Earth worried about the Lucian Alliance? Ships kitted out with Asgard shit & Atlantis vs. shitty Goa'uld tech. Not much of a fight if you ask me.

2) Rush mentalness, again, we don't actually know anything we didn't know one episode ago.

3) New variables? Like what? The seed ship is already gone. As far as Destiny is concerned, nothing has changed.

4) Story arc. You say this, but we had an alien race in S1 that went absolutely nowhere. Not much of an arc, more like a cliff face.

The only important thing that happened was meeting the new aliens, and imo they could've given us a bit more than that.
