Do you get to vote for the House of Lords?
No?
Oh.
actually Bods, bills need to be agreed on by both houses and approved by 'er Magistery
However they are not made in the House of Lords - they can be modified or sent back to the HoC to try again, however none originate from the HoL.
sure, still two thirds of your approval organs are not elected. in fact your MP's aren't directly elected either. they're chosen from the party by the prime minister, who in turn is appointed by the queen.
edit: also, MP's don't make the laws either. proposals are put forward, of which some are chosen to -maybe- become laws (pending approval by the houses & queen ofc) if the old boys feel it would be a good idea.
I think the vote is great. Its getting more people engaged in politics, which can only be a good thing.
I've been waiting to see if anyone would bother referring to the evidence-based arguments eloquently made by Professor Michael Dougan - who's specialism is European Constitutional Law, posted by @BloodOmen here:
I like that he compares arguments levelled against him to creationists shouting down evolutionary biologists.
Did anyone actually watch this video, or does his calm honest evidence-based assesment threaten to shatter people's brains?
