Apparently the Nexus One has multitouch, it's just that in america the patent on that is with Apple, so they aren't allowed to use it. Outside of the US, where software patents are limited, they can. So it looks like I may be getting one when they are released over here.

Yet - DHL pay this and charge them for it later, this has been pointed out but people seem to have their heads firmly in the sand over it.

Dys, get the nexus one offline now, go on simplicity, if you prefer the bravo when it comes out in March, get that offline and sell the nexus one. Easy.

heh, the place you linked. When I said off-line I meant without a contract. You can only buy it from google in the US at the moment.

I know its too early to tell as the Barvo is not official but early specs look identical to the Nexus could it just be a HTC branded Nexus?

No, it has a better camera and does 720p video capture, a different amount of memory and a few other differences I cannot remember off the top of my head.

Dys, those that have received their Nexus One's have been reporting getting a bill for VAT and duty of £61 about a week after delivery. That's from avforums.

My phone has arrived and it is superb!! The Nexus One is really quick, integerated with my google account in a flash so I didnt have to setup anything! (well apart from my 3G O2 settings).
The colours on the screen are really vibrant and clear.
Just collecting a few apps together now. Tried Last.fm which works briliiantly well.

This makes my SE Xperia look like something from 10 years ago.

I googled goggle from google and found that it's only for Android 1.6+. RB, the HTC Hero is still 1.5 :\.

Yup, cheers Nath, best I'd found was that it wasn't compatible with the Tattoo because it doesn't have an autofocus camera, which the Hero does.

I can't believe that's why. MS have loads of "multitouch" stuff in US and elsewhere (Microsoft's multitouch is about 75 things, Apple's is 2 ;))

Apple specifically have a patent on multitouch on a phone or something stupid like that, Palm get away with multitouch there as they are in a standoff with apple over loads of phone/pda based patents and they have an agreement not to sue each other.
TBH the whole idea of patenting concepts is completely shite anyway and needs abolishing. I'm was tempted a while ago to create a patent based on a musical instrument concept i came up with a few years ago and could well have gotten the patent on the concept alone without ever having to make a working product which is stupid.

No point in starting a new thread. So anyone on o2 - do you get the little voicemail icon or just a text when you receive one?

There's a visual voicemail app on the market - I wonder if o2 support that for anything other than the iphone.

I've just ordered a Satio. I couldn;t be arsed to wait for the X10, so I thought I'd give 12 megapictures a go. If it sucks I'll sell it and buy an X10.

Simples.

I will report back when I've had a tinker.

The camera is really nice, I had a play with a friends. I really want to like it, build quality seems good, everything seems to work. The software is slow though, and my mate has said it's fiddly and tends to not work like it's meant to.
