I'm looking forward to it, a friend has one and says its pretty good. Couple of niggles but they get fixed with updates normally. Sounds like my last Symbian phone (W950i), which is still employed to this day reliably as my works phone.

Let us know how you get on Bods, I really would like my faith in Sony Ericsson restored, as the x10 looks sexy.

2.1 Android update with sense UI coming in march for hero apparently... then you have to wait for the network operators to piss about with their bits, or if yours is rooted you can use the stock htc Rom

I am running 2.1 aosp atm with no sense UI and its ok, the CPU handles eclair ok.

I'm sure Paul at modaco will release a faster Rom when he can get hold of the stock Rom from htc

Quick review before I go out for the day - it's lovely :)

Camera - uber
Phone part - easy to use, makes finding numbers a piece of piss.
Media player - again, lovely. Same as the one SE have been using for a while based on the PS3 UI, but sexed up a bit.
Interface - Mostly good. Everything is easy to find, wish it would make its mind up how many taps select things though.

A step up in useability over my Xperia, and I'm even getting on with the on-screen keyboard. Recommended by me certainly.

No, he got a Saito. I'm going to take your review with a pinch of salt Bodhi, considering that you are the spawn of Sony ;p

Live from HTC's MWC 2010 press event -- Engadget

Looks like the hero replacement is one seriously sexy piece of kit: http://gizmodo.com/5472640/htc-lege...ficially-the-best-android-phone-money-can-buy

And specs for the 3 new htc phones launching in March: http://gizmodo.com/5472097/trio-of-...s-leaked-meet-desire-legend-and-touch-hd-mini

A bit disappointing that the Desire (formerly bravo), is basically just a nexus one, no improvement to the camera. It simply has a sensor ball and slightly more memory.

Nah, it's not dissapointing, it's what we need a Nexus one sold over here and subsidised + not having to deal with google's non existant support. I'm waiting for the O2/HTC/Quallcom press event tomorrow, although i'm sure it's probably going to dissapoint as the only thing left on the HTC roadmap is the Tide or whatever the rubbish android phone is,. I bet it's not gonig to be good news but something like a Joggler replacement.

I think i'm sold on the desire though, especially if it comes out next month.....

The legend does look like teh sex, but it's not that much of an upgrade on the hero.

I am torn between the desire and legend at the moment, I really wanted an android phone with a flash and decentish camera. The only option seems to be the x10, but I don't trust Sony :/

The larger screen makes me want the desire, as well as the snapdragon cpu.

Legend looks with Desire spec would work. Wonder why no flash support on the Legend.

God that Legend looks disgusting. It looks like it was designed by a nunch of retards who think putting dodgy aluminium effects on a piece of tech means its going to win a design award.

Or Apple as they are otherwise known.

I'm sorry but the X10 and the HD2 are far sexier bits of kit. After 18 months with an HTC phone, I'd say it was X10 all the way.

I want to love the X10, I seriously do, but I've yet to find a video that doesn't make it look a bit sluggish (unless you can furnish me with one bods) compared to the HTC offerings.

I also want to know what version of android it will actually be running. The x10 mini and mini pro have been confirmed to be running android 1.6, which by all accounts is a bit buggy. I've seen conflicting reports that the x10 will be running 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0. I'd really want firm commitment from sony that they will be updating the phone to new versions before buying one.

i've had 1.6 running for an age on my ADP1 and it's not that buggy, some of the apps are, but i've had no major problems (well apart from random reboots, but it's always done that, most likely hardware though)
i quite like what SE are doing, they seem to be aiming the phone at people who just want a phone which does cool stuff and looksnice (ie. most people) would be good if they can bring android to a wider market because of it.

Its launching with 1.6 but according to Sony later OS versions will be forthcoming, but I don't know if that means over the air upgrades or handset releases (I'm guessing the latter if the networks have anything to say about it).

Like BigG, I want to like the X10, much like I wanted to like the original Xperia (and ended up disappointed), but the Legend and the Desire just both look better.

That's because all the videos are from 3 months ago when it was running pre-production code? And by all accounts, the sluggishness is only in Timescape, which you don;t actually have to use.

no multi-touch, why the hell? gah sony :(

1.6 = no multi-touch. That doesn't mean it's never coming... /cry

I want the X10, but I'm not going to be stuck for 18 or 24 months with a 1Ghz phone that feels sluggish.

I know 1.6 does not have multi touch, but the interview seems to suggest that the x10 hardware itself does not support it either.

Bods -I think the x10 looks nicer because of timescape, disabling it would just give you the plain old android interface, and IMO there are better choices if that is all you want. It really seems sony are pinning all their hopes on the larger screen and camera.

If I can't get at least £250 for my hero to buy a desire then I will just keep it, and see how the x10 has developed come the summer.
