Vodafone are also getting the X10 in March, or as they know it internally, the Sex10 :)

My Xperia X1 is still doing sterling service so I'm happy to hang on, even though my contract is due now. I'm still looking at the Satio, however the lack of 3.5mm jack irks me somewhat. A couple of friends have them, and all seem quite pleased. The Voda versions certainly seem pretty stable.

I like the look of the x10 but i would deffo wait a month or 2 as if SE have proven anything recently its that the early firmware is never perfect i treat them like Windows now wait for sp1 ;)

I'm assuming it charges of microusb so no need for that either, just buy a generic one for bugger all.

I was all happy and waiting for the X10 and still love the look of it, but it's only running 1.6 and with the UI customisations you will be waiting forever for updates on it, i'm liking the thought of the nexus as it will get the quickest updates straight from google and having had a quick play on a friend's one over christmas it made me do a sex wee so i like it.

If the phone ships with a US power adaptor you can just plug it straight into a UK socket, via a pin converter. All power supplies these days are switch mode, so no faffing required.

All new phones are supposed to be microusb now, so it won't be an issue now. The £64 import duty on the other hand...

You can often avoid duty if you have mates in the US, to send it as a gift.

SE have gone for the latest stable release of Android available, which currently is 1.6. 2.0 is a bug filled mess, and 2.1 has only just been announced. I'm still failing to see anything useful in the upgrade to 2.0 tbh. Multitouch is completely pointless unless you've got a Clitoris Phone you want to stroke a lot, and as it doesn't even work properly on that I'm tempted to say "Meh".

From what I've read 2.0/2.1 add a great deal of very handy features and multi-touch is aces, it's pretty inexcusable to not have it on a touch-screen device nowadays.

Version 2 has a ton of useful stuff in it; most importantly, Exchange support, which means I can eventually get one as a work phone.

Our IT dept won't support the Hero on the Exchange network for some reason, despite the fact we sell the handset. Stuck with WinMo or Symbian for the time being.

Multiple email accounts is the biggie for me. And exchange as mentioned, the clunged activesync bits and pieces i've seen for 1.5 and 1.6 haven't been great so i'd like to get my hands on one to test. And 2 is only a stepping stone, i'd expect two or three major releases this year too. It all depends on what you want from a phone, most people never upgrade anyway.

The exchange server needs some sort of box ticking to allow the hero to talk to it.... but that's apparently a big security flaw......

Can the Hero be set to use a Certificate and HTTPS connections? If not that is probably the flaw and your IT will not allow not Secure connections.

Doesn't support encrypted Exchange? Clearly you just want an iPhone.

Why is it that in most videos about the Nexus One they spend half the time on those stupid wallpapers!?

Just noticed I can change to O2 Simplicity...
I could change to £10 per month simplicity tariff and buy a sim free Nexus One....

...Or wait for the HTC Bravo to come out and get that on a contract.

A friend has received his Nexus One already!

Will have a look at it tomorrow and compare it to my Hero.
