The rumour mill suggests while most of the hardware will be the same the Google phone will have a SnapDragon while the Passion will have a 800mhz processor. Im not sure what that will mean real life. If the gain is worth the battery drain ect.

There is a lot of unknowns still with Google Nav in Europe ranging from it will be ok in time to they are crating a partnership with someone like TomTom for European Navigation.

I really do love now phones they are my favourite gadget.

The Bravo / Passion are two different handsets Soze, just not sure which will have the snapdragon, but the google phone is basically one of these handsets rebranded. Either way, I will certainly be buying one on launch.

Will be even more interesting to see the two side by side if they are identical.

I applied an update to Google Maps last night on my Magic and i now have the turn by turn navigation with voice prompt it just says its not available in my current location. So i looks like its just a maps update rather than an android one.

Got to say, the Sony X3 looks like the niceset of the new batch of Snapdragon Android phones. Of course I've been disappointed by Sony smartphones before...

My Hero had an unfortunate incident with a pint of water last night..... it boots up and everything but the touch screen has stopped working, leaving it in a bowl of dry rice till tomorrow... :(

Well I'm not so happy with my Hero at the moment. Every now and then it decides that it's going to go from 3 bars(out of 4) to no signal whatsoever. I've tried with two different sim cards (one of which gets solid signal on another phone. The keyboard lag is also starting to fuck me off - particularly on this site I can't type more than 2 characters without it simply getting stuck and stuttering. Gunna have to contact HTC/the place I bought it and find out what can be done.

Is there a ROM update from HTC yet that you could try that solved a few problems with my Diamond 2?

My anal attitude towards phones helped me last Friday went out on the piss so swapped my two sim cards into £20 samsung phones and then put them both in the washing machine. So i was £40 down but it saved my Magic and Diamond 2 :)

There has been one update that I've already applied, another is in the works but I'm worried this is a physical problem. I'll see what HTC says.

Hero is quite easy to take apart, used a t5 torq, cleaned the insides with Isopropyl alcohol and ordered a new replacement LCD screen since the only thing that isn't working is the touch to the touchscreen.... *cross fingers* otherwise i'll be buying a sim free one :(

I notice the keyboard lag from time to time, I don't think it's that much of a problem but I do know what you mean, particularly if you're a fast typer and it misses a button and you end up having to erase the wrong word. I read a tip on androidforums to switch off the audible noise and vibrate function when you type as a work around for it. I've tried it and although it does seem better I'm sure i've still had a moment of lag. I've also noticed no lag when using qwerty - what keypad mode are you in?

I tried my mate's iPhone the other day now that I'm a savvy touch screen user, and whilst it's a nice piece of kit and all, it's just so backwards compared to the Hero. There is no way I could be arsed with a single button and the inability to "go back" as he put it (and complained about), no multitasking and only four home screens. He was very impressed with the fully customisable screens plus the Facebook integration. Also, I could be wrong on this but I didn't notice a standard phone touchpad option instead of qwerty keyboard for texting? I hate the qwerty keyboard on the Hero and iPhone.

I'm using a full qwerty, I've noticed the lag seems to be ever so slightly less in portrait vs landscape mode, but maybe that's because I'm much slower to type in portrait. I've tried the workaround of disabling vibration/sound feedback but that doesn't help. Besides, one of the things I liked so much about the Hero was the haptic feedback, it's really handy when typing (when it's behaving itself).

I don't notice any significant lag while doing emails or texts, but as I said, it seems to be mainly web forms that struggle.

Not poping for the iPhone here but mine has more than 4 main screens? You're right about the keyboard though, the layout design doesn't let you use an old style 3/4 alpha per number input style.

After having a good few shitty days with phones (lost my original iphone 2g) I'm now on O2's £20 tariff with a shiny 3Gs.

Having lost it, it was very surreal how dependant (not really the right word but I can't think of one less potent) I'd become on it. Having customised the thing to do just what I wanted, switching to another handset for a few days felt like I was having a nightmare.

Relearning how to text on the digit keys, none of the apps that I was used to available, all my contacts gone (thankfully synced to google).

I don't know what the HTC's options are (I'd imagine some form of google sync exists) but I strongly advice all you boys and girls to back up your shit, I'm so glad I did it's untrue!

The Nexus One looks shiny! May get one, despite it being HTC hardware. It will always be able to be upgraded to the latest version, unlike some of the other android phones (yes you, samsung).

Endgadget have a review up, tbh, I think the HTC Bravo and the Sony x10 look far better still. The review did not hail it as the best android phone, it's got pros and cons compared to the other top end Andriod handsets (the droid and hero).

Hmmm.. Lack of multitouch may be a problem.

I suspect the UK version will have multitouch, it will certainly be physically capable of it.

I saw a friends one over the holidays and it's a lovely looking phone and suprisingly light and solid in the hand, i'm very tempted by it will wait and see what deals voda do with it.

Been looking at the X10 as opposed to the Nexus and I am leaning towards SE, I miss having a SE phone got a Nokia 5800 at the moment and I regret it, only got it because it was free and I couldn't afford the X1 at the time.

My Vodafone contract expired a few weeks ago. I quite like the look of the HTC Tattoo but I'm not sure about the camera (I use the phone camera quite a bit).

Any suggestions? I want to keep the bill to less than £30 a month, and I must retain my phone number.

Buy a handset offline, go on to a sim only contract. Both problems solved.

I think I'd rather spread the cost. I have to pay the taxman about £8000 at the end of this month.

The Sony Satio has a good camera but had a lot of firmeware problems i know there was a patch not long ago it might be worth checking a review from after the patch. Point is its currently got one of the best cameras on the market according to reviews and it is £30 a month on Voda.

Yeah I'd considered the Satio but it has a lot of bad reviews. The Nexus One looks fairly spiffy though. I wonder what the UK price will be?

Well google are allowing you to import from the US. They have pricing options for oversees users, including adapters and international shipping. I would guess the price would not be too far off £350. The moto driod retails for £450 ish, and the hero is £350 and they are comparable phones.

You'll get stung for import duty though.
