I thought the X10 was getting 2.1 around about now? Still behind the curve, but better.

I like the new Windows 7 phones quite like the interface for starters and the Xbox Live intergration is awesome but my GF says if i get a new phone which will be my 4th this year she will cut my balls off.

Truth be told though my next phone will most likely be an iPhone again i really miss iTunes on my phone i miss the ease of putting a episode of whatever im watching on my phone so i can watch it on the train to work.

Why can't google launch a service like iTunes surely it would be a hit with the growing number of people buying Android phones?

All my music is on iTunes and i just find the whole process of getting a album or something to watch from my PC to my Galaxy S which isn't the phones fault as so far its been a great phone to use.

Just sometimes i see how easy it is for my GF to go upstairs literally change her entire iPhone 4 music/episodes of programs library in under 10mins or so and i can't help but feel a little jealous.

:(

iTunes and Zune don't work on Linux so it should be an easy choice for a sensible consumer.

How about Winamp? You can get that now for Android devices. Not sure if it syncs or not as I have not used it but you can sync Winamp with an ipod on a pc...

I don't see why it's a bother to connect the Phone to a PC and then just copy stuff across...it's what i do for films and tv...

iTunes makes the baby jesus cry, it's the one reason I WOULDN'T get an iPhone. Other than the fact I would look like a horrendous gay.

"Hey! iPhone owners! Worried your phone is too small and people on the train won't know it's an iPhone? Here's the iPad! No everyone on the train can tell what a vacous moron you are."

P.S The X10 is lovely. No complaints so far whatsoever, apart from the fact it doesn't seem to want to download the Text to Speech libraries.

Bodhi, you will find that Moxier Mail *CONSTANTLY* restarts itself behind the scenes and will drain your battery in next to no time. Until Sony release this update (which has been put back 3 times already), the only things you can do are either run a task-killer app frequently, or root your phone and use a shell to remove the Moxier files. Otherwise your battery life will be substantially shorter than it should be. Don't give me "smartphones eat battery" because my Desire lasts 3 days with light use and about a day with heavy use. My wife's X10 lasts about 36 hours with light use and she can't get through 12 hours of heavy use without charging.

If this update doesn't sort out the battery problems then I'll be using XDA-Dev for a solution. Sony have absolutely locked down the hardware but some enterprising devs are chipping away at it a brick at a time. Root has been achieved, SPL identified and extracted, and work is ongoing on running custom ROMs.

I don't use Moxier Mail, haven't even set it up. Wasn't planning on it either, as the only Exchange server I can connect to is the works one, and I only use that when I'm in work, where I have Outlook and all sorts.

So yeah, still no complaints. The Text-to Speech libraries went on fine, and I've spent the day on Android Market, getting all I wanted. No issues witht he battery life either, as it's better than it was on my Satio.

You missed my point. My wife doesn't use Moxier Mail either and it's never been set up. It starts up *itself* and runs behind the scenes almost like a service. Get your hands on "TaskPanel X" to keep an eye on your running processes to see for yourself.
Put it this way, I just picked up my wife's phone which has been on the desk all evening. She's not done a thing with it in 2-3 hours yet Moxier is running using 16MB of RAM and eating battery (along with 38MB of other apps).

That would be annotying, although rumors are that it's basically just a Galaxy S with 2.3.

Hope it has some decent upgrades over the Galaxy S and isn't just a rebadged version of it, I need an upgrade from my ageing Hero!

Yeah my Hero is starting to feel like an old dog; loveable with it's 2.2 custom ROM loveliness but the handset is just a big scuffed, tired and a bit slow compared to most any other up to date Android handset.

A lot of negativity around it being Samsung hardware, I thought the Galaxy S was a very sexeh phone, perhaps a little bit old iPhone if I had to be critical.

For a google flagship phone it's behind the curve though. The main criticism seems to be build quality compared to the nexusone - which is a fair point.

The big issue with the Galaxy S is the GPS just plain broken ive tried using it a few times at best it will locate a few miles from where i actually am at worst a few 100 miles lol

I've noticed it on the App Killer I've got, yet I haven't noticed it when the phone gives me a breakdown of what's been eating the battery. So....meh. Timescape seems to be more of an issue, but even that's below a minor annoyance. Timescpae is also cool as fuck when it works, a bit jerky when it doesn't.

I think the main difference in battery life between my Sex10 and the Desire is the difference between TFT screens and AMOLED. However it only seems to be the Desire owners which bring their chargers to work. I also haven't found anything at all, which real people actually use, that the Desire owners can do that I can't on mine.

Basically, don't listen to the nurdlings, the X10 is a fine bit of kit. The Desire is also, despite its tedious design and average camera.

Is the nexus one still a decent phone to pick up? My poor old hero looking very long in the tooth now, and i dont think 2.1 helped at all.

No get the Desire HD if your going on contract if you are buying the phone sim free then the Nexus One maybe slightly cheaper.

ahwell, i found it on a set for £310, no longer listed lol. My OH has the standard desire, and i cant say im impressed at the battery life on it, and im hearing mixed reports on the HD verson.

Im also considering the Omnia 7 and HD7, win7mob looks very decent OS.

Well the Desire and the Nexus are basically the same phone, I would say the battery life would be very similar.

The hd7 looks good, but is also basically the same phone as the desire HD, again battery life won't be much different. Although winmob 7 looks great, I wouldn't bet against android right now.

Ok. Impressions so far on the Desire HD. It's a lovely looking phone, great screen, love the aluminium case, well featured; however it has a few problems. Firstly the battery life is poor, with heavy use it doesn't even last the day, I hope they come out with a higher capacity battery soon. Secondly, the software is a bit buggy; I'm getting a fair few updates recently, but the whole sense ui seems a bit unresponsive compared to my nexus one, and locks up occasionally. Hopefully the software updates will fix this.

Any other Android HTC phones coming out soon? I'm not keen on Samsung...
I don't really want the Desire HD (too big for my liking) or the Desire Z (I don't want a slide out kbd).

I'm still very happy with my Nexus One but would like something else fairly soon!
