Yep, I had a chat with o2 yesterday, they were being quite unreasonable in terms of good deals. But the retentions lady did say, it may be worth me waiting a month or two to see what other phones come out, and that she'd freeze my price plan so I keep my 40% discount and data allowance until I choose to upgrade,

Despite the fact that you can wrangle some really good deals on contract, I don't think I can bring myself to go down that route ever again. I'm sticking with my (proper "unlimited" net) simplicity sim and I'll just buy new phones outright. I'm getting too old for this haggling bullshit .

That said, the FroydVillain ROM is so mindblowlingly awesome, I don't see myself upgrading for some time.

Root warning for Desire owners. Seems HTC have been shipping Desire's with SLCD screens for the last month or so (Samsung stopped selling AMOLED screens to other manufacturers as they could not produce enough for their own units). There is a work around here to stop you having a blank screen after rooting if you have an SLCD

So I sent my phone back to HTC after having the same endless boot cycle error with my new sim card, I feel so lost without it

Didn't realise how reliant I have become on android + sense when using a phone. On a Nokia 6500classic for now and even dialling a number takes so much longer

Up to ten days turnaround for repair apparently.

Nope, I prefer the sense dialler, people ap, widgets and extra home screens. I don't actually like the android stock launcher. I can't be arsed to have a vanilla android rom and then install the sense components I want separately for a small speed boost - mainly cause I don't have an ancient android device like you

You have more than seven home screens? With my set up I can have anywhere from 1 to 7, I missed the other widgets initially, I was as close minded to the customisable nature of android as you are but I saw the light. Incidentally, the lack of sense isn't for a speed boost it's because the hacked ROM I'm using hasn't got a reference phone to steal Sense on 2.2 to port it to. They will do soon when the Legend gets 2.2 but I'm sticking with it the way it is now, much nicer and far more efficient. Sense cons you in to thinking it's making shit more convenient but it actually makes things far more awkward to use.

You're right though, I have an ancient android device that performs like a fucking DREAM and a spare odd £400 quid. I'm half inclined to upload a YouTube vid of it so you can see how fucking dope it is .

To say it's superb would be an understatement.

I am starting to love my galaxy S atm, playing GBA pokemon a lot so nackering the battery, actually thinking of buying a spare. Can't wait for Froyo and the hopeful GPS/satnav fix, will be perfect then.

The real test of the phone is this weekend when I am away camping, I hope to get some decent photos taken and geotagging stuff.
