Yea it is, the performance of the phone has decreased noticeably. It has also duplicated every text which there is no fix for. The 360 aps don't even work. They also released a statement earlier in the year where they confirmed no branding on the desire just on the legend, which was a contributing factor in the decision for a lot of people to go with VF.

If there are indeed bugs, such as the decrease in performance and the SMS issue you just mentioned, then of course you can complain. Complain that they released buggy firmware. Making a big fuss over some extra icons is a bit silly though.

The apps still have to be authorised by Apple anyway, yes I know, not a provider but it still limits customer choice.

Not really, this is (and always has been) a mute argument because you can simply choose a non-apple device.

Besides, if you have to root your device to remove the Vodaphone bullshit, how's that any different from jail-breaking an iPhone?

His point was as I explained it, he may not have put it across as well as he could have but you still missed it. Plus, I never said an iPhone is not customisable I said it's not customisable in the way that Android phones are. Android has been designed to be a customisable experience, the iPhone not so much and needs to be jailbroken to do anything significant to it.

The apps are installed on the phone, it's not just the icon, those apps use internal memory and cannot be deleted. It's VF going back on their own word, and it's not a surprise that VF have had such a massive negative reaction. You should see the Vf desire forum, it's hilarious.

Well I'm on 2.2 on my hero. It's vanilla android though and so far I'm missing Sense :S.

Pretty frickin quick though, my linpack score has gone from about 2.5 mflops to 4!

Ok, sorry about the triple post but I've just installed overclockwidget on my phone and I've gone from regular rooted 2.1 at 2.5 Mflops on Linpack to 4.8!.

Farkin ell, it's so fast! Clocked up to 710mhz so far and underclocking to 300 odd when it's in sleep mode, hopefully should result in no change to battery performance.

Oh apparently the OTA froyo update for sim free Desires changes the bootloader from .80 to 0.91, which can't be rooted. So you need to change your bootloader back, it's just a bit more fiddly. So if you are thinking of upgrading, you may want to root and install the rom image from xda rather than doing it OTA.

Bleh, this is really annoying me now. Why does streaming video on my desire always freeze almost exactly 5 minutes in? Tv catch-up, yamgo, beebplayer etc all do it.

Using dolphin hd browser but its the stock streaming player I think
