It is indeed a lovely phone the one major problem though is the GPS it just doesn't work lol i switch it on when i'm out and it will show my position as much as 50 miles away from where i actually am heh.
.

You may well have a faulty unit, worth asking the question from where you purchased it. Have you tried with assisted gps?

Pretty much just go on any Androidforums/XDA it won't take too long imo to find huge threads about the heated subject.

Basically the phone can't keep a lock on satellites and only locks on to about 8 or so.

Well hopefully it's just a software glitch, how much did you pay for yours in the end?

Been watching a couple of vids about the Galaxy S. It looks nice but there's something I can't quite put my finger on. The application launcher gives me so much deja vu, what's that about eh?

How much was yours Raven? And before you drop kick your Renoir down the garden, see how much you can get for it by selling it?

Free on a contract. Nah the LG is all scratched and keeps resetting itself. I would get far more satisfaction in kicking it down the garden tbh.

Doesn't matter what condition it is in as long as it turns on, give it a kick then sell it to envirophone and the like.

QFT i probably made around £200 in total selling old phones to them.

Well that did not go well! Think HTC are going to have to fix my phone. It's turning itself off shortly after a reboot, guess my problems the other day were not down to handcent.

In an update, my problems the other day were caused by handcent stuck trying to send messages, removing my simcard fixed it, and let me remove handcent.

The froyo update worked after I removed my sim, I now have a dead sim in it that can't connect to a network and the phone is working fine without dying.... I've got another live sim somewhere that I'm going to test it with later. Looks like it could be a sim card fault rather than the phone.

Also check your SDcard, I know that has caused problems for me before, Spotify also completed killed my 16GB a few months ago, but I RMA'd it all the way to sandisk in bloody poland!

Froyo just went live for Vodaphone users about an hour ago. Mine has just finished the install. Time for a play! :)

hmm nop, by all accounts it's not Froyo, it's vodafone branding/application rubbish that no one will want.

shite..

It looks like they are going to use that update as a stepping stone to get to Froyo - so unless you unbrand / root, you are stuck with their shite.

So tried two other sims today, both made the desire work perfectly.

First time I've experienced a sim card mess with a phone so much. I may well still send it off to HTC for repair, but only after I back everything up.

Using my giffgaff sim with my desire now, Froyo is quite good, browsing is faster, apps to SD card is very very handy -although some apps like google maps and pre-installed apps cannot be moved.

Bleh, wish I'd read this thread before grabbing that update - I just assumed it'd be froyo >.<

Will give VF a couple weeks to get 2.2 out or i'll root it, wasn't wanting to really - convinced I'll brick it somehow :p

Anyone else given the 720p video recording a whirl? Quite good quality. Option to record as h.264 as well.

Vodafone have now released a statement, their bloatware will be included in the Froyo update. I strongly advise anyone considering taking a contract with VF not to.

Will root my desire tonight, it will once again be unbranded and bloatware free.

Is it really a big problem having a an extra app in the list that you don't want to use? I doubt there is any real bloat (background services).

It would be for me. The whole point of android over shit like Iphone is that you can set it up exactly how you want it, the apps you want not the apps your provider wants you to have. I know who my provider is, I don't really need to see their banners and pointless apps all over the place to be reminded.

(A happy O2 customer) Though the day O2 pulls something like this is the day I root my phone.

Yea it is, the performance of the phone has decreased noticeably. It has also duplicated every text which there is no fix for. The 360 aps don't even work. They also released a statement earlier in the year where they confirmed no branding on the desire just on the legend, which was a contributing factor in the decision for a lot of people to go with VF.

Like Raven says, part of the Android experience is to set the phone up how you like it. I don't want progs taking over my PC why would i want it on my phone.

I was with o2 for 7 happy years. Why did I change to these clowns..

Again, do not sign with VF.

Stupid statement. The only apps you can't remove on the iPhone aren't provider apps, they're the built in ones.

You missed his point. The iPhone isn't customisable the way an Android phone is.

Exactly.

And to go off on a slight tangent. The apps still have to be authorised by Apple anyway, yes I know, not a provider but it still limits customer choice.
