Just ordered my HTC Desire upgrade from T Mobile was torn between that and the Sony X10 but all reviews I have read say the Desire is better. £15 per month too, I still get staff rates even tho I left over 3years ago after working for them for 2 months!

My Hero is still with HTC being repaired (or hopefully replaced) before I sell it. Link your auction please, interested to see what you get for it. Is it a network branded or sim free model btw?

It's branded but unlocked, so has a little T-mobile logo thing instead of HTC in the bezel

HTC Hero Cell Phone on eBay (end time 13-May-10 19:12:50 BST)

Not used to selling on Ebay, but meh! might as well get some cash for it before it completely loses value.

Checked out some recently ended auctions for mint condition heros and they're going for up to 200 quid. Makes me seriously consider selling up and going for the desire.

Argh.

lol just sold it for £160, didn't take long!

Dammit! should have put the price up, ahhh well, it has no box or headset as I said but other than that it is in good condition, got my HTC desire from Ebay too, new, unboxed for £335, so £175 altogether, not a bad deal.

Tom, where did you order your cradle from?

From the Google site, same place as the phone.

Its really nicely put together, best cradle I've ever had in fact, easily beats all the Nokia cradles I've had.

I got a bog standard Belkin one today for £20, it's padded and adjustable, so not limited to one phone. Has a cable management system as well so quite nice. Halfords had some nice generic own brand ones as well.

Depends what 2.2 actually offers, the websites have no confirmed feature list. What I really want is apps to be stored on SD card, which google say is coming at some point this year.

I've already got FM radio, so the rest seems meh.

I forgot to say that O2 Direct have finally got around to releasing the Desire, way after everyone else.
24x£35 gets you 600m/unl.txt/unl.data and the phone for free.
18x£40 gets you 600m/unl.txt/unl.data and the phone for free.
18x£35 gets you 300m/unl.txt/unl.data and the phone is £49.99.

Since I've got a lot of years with O2 behind me, I'll be bargaining with retentions for a decent deal. Can anyone point me towards the best deals they've found for the Desire with 400-600mins and unl.data? I want ammunition for the "negotiations". :)

o2 retention usually give you at least a 40% discount. I'd argue for a 12 month contract though, even if you have to pay more for the phone.

Also remember that data on o2 is not unlimited, but subject to a 230mb fair use policy.

If I were you I'd really just buy offline and go the giffgaff route. For £15 a month they give you 300 mins/ unlimited texts/ unlimited data with no FUP. No contract tie ins and they use o2 as a network.

Whether I live to regret it or not I have got mine off Three, 24 month contract unlimited texts and internet (FUP) and 300 anytime minutes (plenty for me) and that is costing me £25 a month. Phone cost nothing.

O2 are robbing fuckers thats for sure.

I'm on O2 and to my knowledge, nowhere do they explicitly state 230mb FUP. I've a friend who has been on them for ages and knows plenty of others too and none of them have ever been warned about data usage. I expect you'd have to really take the piss to be warned, unlike with Orange where you just have to pay extra when you go over 500mb.

Anyway, I'd second buying offline - freedom from contracts = win.

If its branded give it back and buy offline. Actually do it anyway, that contact its crap, should be 15 or 20 quid max.

I can't find that phone with those minutes/data/texts anywhere for any less than £30. If you have links gifv please.

HTC Desire is the phone.

As long as Three are ok with reception I will give them a go, after a quick search they are still the cheapest for this phone and package. I may be able to get cheaper if I want to pay extra on top for the phone.....which I don't. I already pay £10 a month for a sim only deal with Virgin so this deal won't make a hell of a difference each month.

Just hope the phone is sim-free and unlocked. I had a quick look and it seems the price of a desire contract has risen considerably since launch :(

That is quite an achievement! Let's hope the sense UI tweaking is quick and HTC get it out sharpish. Maybe they can shelve the work on the hero update to speed the process? Let's face it, everyone with a hero should be selling it and buying a Desire instead anyway. *looks at nath and Big G*
