Fucking LOL. o2 have lost the plot. Seriously mental. Having seen what the competition have in place for desire contracts o2 have wisely decided on the following:

All have unlimited texts/ data.

18 Months:
100mins - £30/m - Phone Cost = £99
300mins - £35/m - £49
600mins - £40/m - Free
900mins - £45/m - Free
1200mins - £50/m - Free
Ultd mins - £65/m - Free

For 24 months just remove £5/m.

Those tarrifs are nearly worse than the iphone ones they used to pedal. Jesus titty fucking christ, they are insane.

For reference, they have upped the contract prices compared to any other handsets by about a fiver specifically for the desire. And they usually give a phone away for free at £30 per month, now they are asking £40 per month. Very glad I bought offline now.

Zenith, I think o2 need a mass exodus to realise they have got sloppy. They used to be first for new phones, have competitive tariffs and treat existing customers well.

Unbranded and unlocked according to all reports. £349 !!! It's a pay as you go and they give you a 3 sim card with it, they don't force you to top up, but I'd imagine they may soon if they start selling by the bucket load.

I am one of those people who have a £10/month deal on the Desire. I called bullshit on the number of minutes, not the price.

Their deal was 100 minutes and 100 texts (unlimited with the booster of course).

My problem is that I can go with O2 or.... that's it.
No Vodafone, Orange or T-Mobile signal in my house.
Before you mention about going with Vodafone and it's Access Gateway thingummy, I doubt I'd get past their credit scoring. Part of the good thing I have with O2 is upgrades aren't credit scored. I also have 3 contracts with them (wife's 24 month SE X10 last month, mine up in July and a £10/month Simplicity for my budding technophile daughter).

I know the E71 has a very good following...I would guess the E72 would as well..
The only problem may be if you have chubby fingers! The keys are a bit small...

I forgot how thick some people in CPW really are

I went in and enquired if they had the Desire in stock, they confirmed they did and started to prattle on about the contracts.

"I don't need a contract, I just want it PAYG so I can stick my o2 sim into it"

they then commenced to blather on about how the Desire doesn't work with the o2 internet and that it wont for quite some time, and how its like the blackberry service and you need the proper o2 contract for it to work
That was a red rag to a bull, I spent a month here at work installing a Blackberry BES and handing out the handsets to staff so I know a little bit about Blackberry and its extra costs involved.

Of course, she didn't take lightly to being corrected in front of other colleagues with someone holding a blackberry pointing out her mistake.

(reminds me of the time I enquired at another store about the HTC Hero, only to be told that "its a Windows Mobile device" )

I think I will be ordering it online now, especially since our 3 stores here don't seem to have the stock in

Hah, that's just like when I'm talking to call centres trying to fix an internet connection for a client. The router is not synchronised but connected fine via ethernet. They'll always say "can you restart the computer please" and I have to fight the urge to explain in detail why that won't make a blind bit of difference. Grr.

Lots of issues buying it from carphone warehouse on payg Insane, they know it's unlocked, but don't want people buying it outside of contracts or with a payg sim card and topup. They don't make their connection bonus otherwise. If you get the £450 sim free version they will happily flog it to you though.

TBH, you should have just said you want it pay as you go with the orange sim they flog it with, then binned the sim or given it away.

Nope, not coming to the UK. It's basically the Desire for the Us market. We should be getting a HD2 based Andriod phone in Autumn/ Winter though.

I got the Nexus One car dock today. First impressions, extremely well made, quite weighty and solid-feeling. No rough edges or anything. Comes in a lovely solid box, just like the phone.

The minor issues are that the clip that holds the phone in will mark the phone (although not obviously), it should be rubberised. Secondly, the power cable is a little on the chunky side, and not so easy to hide.
