I used an app called Contact2sim to do this before on my magic as i chage down phones when i go out drinking or to football ect. It lets you copy both ways. I have just tried it on my Nexus though and it failed but it could be worth looking at.

Cheers for the suggestion, but I just tried it and it says my SIM is not compatible or some bollocks. That's as soon as you open the app, and it exits after acknowledging the error.

Yeah the envirophone style things all offer around £80 for a second hand hero. Ebay fluctuates from £100 to £180.

Ok, really lost on this one. Trying to get my old contacts in the new phone. Somehow it won't let me get anything off my old vodafone sim because it's locked, so I had to transfer the contacts onto another phone, then from that phone to my new SIM.

Now, on my Desire, I can do "import from SIM", all of the contacts get created on the phone, but none of them contain phone numbers?! The SIM contacts do have numbers on -_- wth is going on

Great idea, I went one better and found Google's SyncML info. I just sync'd all of my contacts to gmail, and they all clearly have phone numbers, but my Desire doesn't see numbers on the contacts still! wtf?

edit-before-posting: lol, I just created a contact in gmail and ran the sync on my phone. When I view that contact, it crashes the People application.

Even stranger, I just unticked the thing to only show contacts with phone numbers. They're all still being listed! But without phone numbers!

I typed my old contacts out into google mail so i could sort the formatting and pictures!
Once you do that it works perfectly with every new android phone you get!

I am gagging to get my desire in may when I can upgrade!

Thats exactly what I did!
No problems whatsoever! I now never have to connect my PC to the phone sync anything.

I find Soocial does google contacts better than google for the most part. There stuff understands the address layouts, better so they work with google maps.

While not the same problem as you're trying to solve, I've used it to clean up and consolidate my 3 work address books and personal phone/email/messenger contacts into one usable set.

As for google for contacts, that is something I've been doing for ages, where have you guys been!

Yes, I remember reading about the F'Kin One over the weekend.

I've had a WinMo6.5 ROM on my old XDA for a few months but decided to go back to WinMo6.1. The screen sensitivity, response, radio signal are all better. The problem I see with WinMo7 is that MS have missed the boat. No multitasking, little/no backward compatability, tight restrictions on what apps can go on the market... sounds like MS copied the worst part of Apple's iPhone.

This is another reason why I'm jumping ship from WinMo and going with Android instead. At least there is a healthy number of people developing apps as well as custom ROM images.

This is getting on my nerves now. I might even call T-Mobile instead of trying to fix it myself!

As of right now, my contacts are on gmail with phone numbers, but the phone doesn't see any numbers. The rest of the info can be updated and sync'd -- email address, notes, contact "group", etc. Just no fucking phone numbers, whether I start with 0 or +44, or list it as Home or Work or Mobile.

I used Sprite migrate to get all my info on my nexus. I hear their backup app is pretty good as well.

One of them I edited just started working all of a sudden, so I just edited every contact in gmail and saved it without making changes. Now they work!
