The Desier and Nexus are awesome phones but best ever i dont think so there are phone that have the beating already announced. Like this Super AMOLED screen and about 3 and a half times the gfx of the Desier/Nexus
Umm, what do you mean?

The Nexus One is 3.7" 480x800.
The HTC Desire is 3.7" 480x800.
The Samsung Galaxy S is 4.0" 480x800.
The Sony Ericsson X10 is 4.0" 480x854.

My personal preference right now is the Nexus One for it's noice cancelling mic, voice search and having a personalised engraving on the back.
I'll consider a HTC Desire if O2 don't stock the N1 (which is probable).
I'll reserve judgement on an X10 until I've played with one. :)

The good news is that XDA-Developers are supporting all three models with ongoing ROM development, and Android phones are easy to root. There'll eventually be a ROM for each that has the best of each handset included. Android 2.1 from N1, SenseUI from Desire and TimeScape/MediaScape from Sony.

Having just read GSMArena's review of the X10 I think I'll be having that one. Most of the minor issues should be fixed by the retail firmware (funny when reviews pan software issues on pre-release software), and they reckon overall, it's a cracking bit of kit. No multi-touch granted, however I have never seen the point of that anyway. It's just for Apple fans who want another excuse to caress their shiny new toy.

Given that HTC smell of ubergay I reckon it's the only way to go personally.

Never really got on with SE phones, but the x10 is only Android 1.6 right?

When are you gonna get one? I want impressions ASAP!

It's useful? It shouldn't be patented though.

Nexus one when and if it hits the UK is Vodafone exclusive. I went with the Nexus just because i know about 15 people who ordered the Desire plus side by side i think the Nexus looks better :)

The Galaxy S (which i class as a current phone seeing as its officially announced) has a better screen Supper AMOLED which reviews say look very good. And this explains the Graphics bit.

I walked into my local CPW this morning and had a hands-on with the HTC Desire and SE Xperia X10 (Rachael) side by side.
They're BOTH lovely phones, both responsive, both with decent cameras and both run Android. The differences are more to do with aesthetics than function.

Without getting hung up on the differences, I personally prefer the Desire "as a package" even though the Rachael is technically superior in screen or camera rez. The Rachael fits my big hands better, but I didn't realise how used I am to HTC's UI. The problem is operator network.

We can only get O2 with any reasonable signal at home. Vodafone is too close to 1 bar to be useful. Orange and T-Mob are as good as dead... no signal, even outside the front door.
So I want the Desire on O2... which can't be done atm.
Mrs.Zenith wants the Rachael in White... which you can only get on Orange.

I think Mrs.Zenith is going to have to compromise on a black model with a white silicone cover.

Gah gah gah, so tempted to go to a phone shop and play with a desire and a x10, but I know I wouldn't be able to resist buying :(

Actually quite tempted by the nexus one, the noise cancelling mic looks more and more worth it.

Any tech really. It's why I avoid a/v shops, camera shops, phone shops, computer shops like the plague.

I know what you mean, last time I was in PC World I bought a 1 TB hard drive that I didn't really need, plus it wasn't exactly a competitive price, but I did mean I could have it right there and then...

So far the phone is wonderful it's just a beautiful phone to look at and i am gonna sell my iPhone 3GS now :)

My GF has ordered one now too.

It's taking some getting used to flicking through the menus etc but so far i understand why HTC is fast becoming a well respected mobile phone maker.

Tired of waiting for good deals on the Legend (will probably only happen when T-Mobile bother to get it). If there's nothing by Tuesday, I'm just going to walk into my local T-Mobile shop and pick up a Desire.

Heres the deal i got.

Paid £164 for the phone with 300mins/unlimited texts bolt on thingy that Tmobile do and unlimited internet for £10 a month 24 month contract but at £10 a month i aint gonna complain.

All in all it comes to £404 by the time the contract is up which in my opinion isn't too shabby since a sim free desire costs between £350-500 depending on where you get it.

Interesting. My missus has earmarked the Desire as her next phone and I'm glad it lives up to the hype.

What is it about the Desire that makes you want to switch from the iPhone?

Y'shoulda gone online with your phone and did a collect at store deal, you get a web price right there in the store and it actually *is* competitive. That's what I did when I was there last :).

What is it about the Desire that makes you want to switch from the iPhone?

So far it's probably the customisation or Sense as HTC call it i think, basically 7 screens to fill up with what you want, widgets/web sites/contacts/email/media player pretty much anything on the phone can be added to those screens for quick access.

The touchscreen so far matches the iPhone in terms of response from touches and it predicts words you are typing MUCH better then iPhone.

Internet so far is great no grumbles with that as that is the first thing i will start using on any new phone as i need it for work every day.

I also like the Live Wallpapers very nice to look at, i haven't even visted the android store yet.

Also did i mention how quick this phone is? it's silly quick.

I guess at the mo i'm on the honey moon period as with anything new and i'm sure annoying things may start to pop up soon but so far HTC have won me over.
