this will probably drag on for years and apple are playing a dangerous game, if i were google i'd now be considering blocking access to all services by iphones which is a piece of piss to do and google have a lot more money than apple going spare for a legal fight and own a shed load of patents due to clever acquisitions over the years.

Conceptual patents are retarded american ideas anyway, if i were google i'd threaten to leave the country and move somewhere sensible like europe unless the us actually bans all vague process patents. otherwise i'm going to patent unlocking a phone with my knob and sue anyone who potentially allows this on their devices :)

It's a nothing story tbh, everyone and their gran is suing each other over patents at the moment. We won't know if there is any point until one of the cases is over.

I agree with yaruar, patenting an idea is a very stupid thing to allow.

Actually, although irrelevant since it's HTC not Google. I think you'll find that Apple and Google have about the same amount of financial clout. Apple said in like 2008 it had $25bn in hard cash in the bank and no debt and Google's 2009 accounts that they publish say it's got £25bn in cash in 2009.

I would imagine this is Apple's round-a-bout way of telling Google to go fuck themselves for bringing out a phone more than anything else. As for blocking services, Apple won't give a shit they've already blocked the Google voice app themselves.

It's a stupid battle that will only harm us end users if Apple win.

Actually it is very relevent, since a lot of the patent infrigingment claims are against elements of the android OS. The analysts expect apple to fine similar cases against all the android handsets.

Apple are just joining the patent circus, they are being bent of a barrel and fucked sideways by Nokia, so they feel the need to fuck someone back to make them feel better.

So the X10, Desire and Legend all available from April? I know T-mobile are first with Desire and Vodaphone are claiming X10 from April. Wonder when the other networks will follow.

A friend of mine bought her Nexus one over tonight and I have to say it is lovely!
Beautifully smooth, onscreen keyboard is very nice.

Can't wait for legend and desire now!

I dunno, I read it as a good device with a couple of niggles tbh, am still going to get one in summer, about 3 months after release. Nothing to do with waiting for them to work the bugs out, just I'm enjoying my Satio too much :p

I don't mind things like stuttering so much, but the thing about the text input being recognised yet not "taking"? If that kind of thing isn't a quick fix, I'd really feel silly for not getting a HTC device.

That review killed any lingering doubt I had about possibly getting an x10.

The problem with that one is that it is CDMA/EVDO and limited to the US.
Once there's a GSM/3G version, expect a lot more interest. :)

I notice that the comparison chart between Motorola Droid, Google Nexus One and HTC Evo 4G is helpful. If they manage to maintain that specification for the GSM version, I can see good things coming out of XDA-Dev. The best hardware capabilities with the best features cherry picked from all the top Android phones.

Oh yeah, it's rumoured that the Evo will eventually become the HD3, and we won't get it until The Autumn phone launches. Would be interesting if HTC were to release it as a winmo7 and android phone.

HTC+Android seems to be the winning formula at the moment!

I love the Nexus One. It is such a brilliant phone and I'm really looking forward to any future improved versions! Although saying that I'm not sure what extra I need that the Nexus doesn't already provide....perhaps a better camera...

Android is definitely miles ahead of winmo...even of winmo 7. I am thrilled with Android even without HTC's tweaks of its Sense UI...

Very Impressed with Google's delivery under 24 hours between dispatch and Delivery of my Nexus. No news of a VAT Bill yet but i understand that comes later. I nearly settled on a Legend but the black bar between buttons and screen really started bugging me.

I think I've settled on the Legend... but where does one get a decent deal for it? I only want to pay £20/month but all I see are shitty deals on dialaphone (vodafone) for £25 and 24 months ¬_¬ Same total cost as the X10.

Wife has decided on a Sony-Ericsson X10 in white. The problem now is seeing if I can get one for her on O2.
As for me, I'm still flipping a coin between the HTC Desire and the Nexus One but I'll consider an X10 after playing with one. :)

I've as good as given up on WinMo7. One of the things I like about WinMo is multi-tasking and customisability. The ability to run TomTom7 is also pretty good. WinMo7 won't have multi-tasking and there's some questions over backward compatability.

I'm happy to see there's a number of offline satnav programs for Android now. CoPilot, Navigon and iGO are all available and worthwhile alternatives to TomTom. Of course if TomTom brought out a version for Android I'd be all over it. :)

Zenith, try and wait a month for the x10, at least that way you will know just what problems there are with it after launch.

It'll be June anyway because my contract is up in July, but I understand what you're saying. Mrs.Zenith is on a month-by-month Simplicity tariff until a phone she likes becomes available.

The Desier and Nexus are awesome phones but best ever i dont think so there are phone that have the beating already announced. Like this Super AMOLED screen and about 3 and a half times the gfx of the Desier/Nexus
