For those of you who have a Nexus, how accurate is the voice control?
I mean can you write and send a text without touching the phone at all?
Can you dial a phone number just by saying the numbers?

Yes, I'm thinking seriously about getting one but I want some testimonials from people who have actually tried it. The voice control is the "killer app" for me.

What's the story for turn-based satnav? Is Google Navigator available in UK yet?

The voice control is pretty good i'm responding to this message using it i havent edited in anyway so you can see what it's like with my thick black ass

Ive not tried calling anyone with voice commands. I'm not sure if that is an option. Ive certainly not seen it as an option.

Hit the search button, then the mic icon, and say "Call Joe Bloggs".

He is right though Between Nokia, Sony Ericson, Samsung and who ever else Symbian prolly is a massive market leader and the apps really should be better. The problem is versions of the same OS as the fact they dont have any BC.

My work has just pre ordered 50 Desiers so i think i need to get a Nexus seeing as it still have no Official UK date that i can see. I have an aunt in the states so i might be able to save on Delivers and Customs chrges if i can talk her into forwarding it for me and she sends it though USPS. I'm just not sure about the warranty then.

That's cool then why do Google just have coming to Europe with Vodafone soon still. I might just keep my fingers crossed i get a Desire from work and sit on my personal phone a while then.

Seems Vodafone and o2 are both launching the desire 1st April as well.

With Vodafone carrying the Desire, I wonder if their Nexus One plans are dust?

Voda were never going to stock the phone, the plan was that google would supply the phones directly from their web store, and people would sign up to a vodaphone deal. Same as in the US where you can buy the nexus one full price, or subsidised on a t-mobile contract.

Fair enough the Google Site still says Vodafone in Europe so might just be a matter of time. I would have though who ever stocked it would have wanted it in Stores ect hence thinking they would hold stock. I did not know Google had tied it down.

according to voda they are all ready to do the deals on it, but google won't get their arses into gear and open up the european distribution website. god knows why, probably issues getting the european phones shipped, probably been hijacked by pirates or something.

Part of the delay is probably supply/demand remembering that in essence the Nexus and Desire are more or less the same unit.
