For gaming concentration, BW is untouchable.
(pimp)
Ezesurf is pretty good, a little more expensive then RedHotAnt's one off payement but a fair bit better. Theres quite a few popping up here and there. Take a look at www.ispreview.co.uk

Kryten you got that the wrong way round. RHA is a yearly payment and Ezesurf is a one off payment.

As well as BW www.jolt.co.uk is one of the fastest ISPs.

Going with the cost bit, BT Internet are good value for £9.99 a month free off peak.

ntlworld is very good.
24/7 access, and no monthly charge.

- You do however, have to have an ntl phone line, (9.99 a month) or an adapter for a BT line (which costs 10 quid, and you have to spend 10 quid a month on voice calls through it to use the ntlworld service).

Anyway, whichever way you pay it is cheaper than BTi, cause you can use it any time during the day. - I *think* it is also a bit faster than BTi too (based on me having sub 200 pings in Q2 with my 33.6k, and peopel using BTi having +200 pings on BTi with 56k modems - the pings can be a bit variable, but I have had no major problems at all.)

For 0800 access www.ja.net always seemed to be the best for me :) (sorry had to get that one in to piss on cable modem boy's fire)

But if you want the ultimate in performance and service CIX (www.cix.co.uk) is probably about as good as it gets. I regularly ping 50 in UT with it, and PL stays rock solid at 0. The downside is its £17.61 a month with no 0800 access. But hey. If you want the ultimate, you have to be prepared to pay the ultimate price.

I'm still with Demon at £10/month (ex VAT), mainly because I can't be arsed to look around for a cheaper deal. I get a decent connection to Barrysworld servers (usually that is, the packet loss last night was pretty bad) with a ping varying between 50-70.

this is what i have experienced my self

bti £10 a month no call charges but generally shite ping :)off peak 6pm-12pm and weekends)unless you use surftime (6pm-8am)

freeserve £10 a month no call charges generally quite good but can take some connecting to between 6pm-11pm ish :)24/7

Red hot ant £20-£60 per year with £30 setup fee no call chrges generally quite shit for quake from 4pm-1am ish takes a lot of connecting to most times 24/7

Jolt free 0845 call charges apply usually very good ping although had times when its been a bit shit not very often though

Claranet various prices about same performance to jolt i think
