Football Manager 2010 Team Talks?

Hi everyone

As I spend most of my time at my gf's now and not been able to play DAoC GGGGRRRRRRRRrrrrrr.... I have been playing FM 2010...

The problem I have is the 'team talks' as most of my players tend to be angry with me, hehe

I have been searching online for an easy not so lengthy explanation of how team talks work. But everywhere I look its more detailed, so I tend to not bother reading hehe

So could anyone do a small guide for an idiot eg: what to say to team or individuals before and after the game please please please, hehe

team talks have always been broken.

Just "do it for the fans".

Thats all you need to do

After a while the default reaction seems to be that you don't notice anything from the players or they're not listening.

Team I tend to go with:

When odds are predicting an easy win and you're at home:
I expect a win

When odds are predicting a win (home or away):
You can win

Cup Games / Rival Games / Tricky Away game:
For the fans

(I never use the expect a loss - then go 'For the fans')

Pre-Season:
Show me what you can do.

Half time is important as it can change the match. Try not to 'rage' too often as it loses it's effect.

Encourage / Disappointed as neccesary dependant on ratings.

Post match - well done (if they did well) - Do it again (if you want them to play well next match - don't over use) - don't be complacent (if they scraped a win in a game you expect to win) - call them out if needed.

Individual Pre match:
Expect a performance from those looking over confident
Have faith if lowish morale

Half time:
Disappointing for people lower that 6.3
Angry for sub 6
Well done for above 7
You can make the diff for a player that is being effective and you're drawing.

End:
Well done if 7+
Delighted if 7.8+

Obviously don't use individual ones if the whole team got that rating.

+7.5 Pick up from where you left from
-5.5 Expect Better

Young/Youth Players

Pre-match – No Presure
Half time – pleased if +6.8

NEVER USE

‘We can win this’ or ‘Wish luck’

Odds before playing a Football Match

If odds favour me and morale is above GOOD:
‘expect a win’ or individual ‘I have faith’

If odds are close and morale is above GOOD:
‘for the fans’

If odds are UNDERDOG and morale is above GOOD:
‘for the fans’

If odds are HEAVELY against and morale is above GOOD:
‘pressure is off’

Half-time team talks

0-0

if pre match ‘I expect a win’ should say ‘disappointing’
if +7.5 ‘you can make a difference’ between 7.0 to 7.4 should say ‘none’

0-0

if pre match ‘for the fans’ +7.5 ‘make a difference’
6.0 to 6.7 say ‘disappointing’ if morale is above average
Substitution say ‘you can make a difference’

1-0 Winning

If im expecting to win and morale is high ‘don’t get careless’
if +7.5 ‘you have faith’ and substitutions ‘don’t get careless’

2-0 Winning

If im expecting to win and morale is high ‘don’t let your performance drop’

If there is no complacency I would say ‘pleased’ as a general team talk with a manual ‘none’ on players with 6.8 rating or below and ‘you have faith’ on players with 7.5 rating or higher, including substitutions.

0-1 Losing

The best one to use is ‘I want to see more from you’
if +7.5 ‘you can make a difference’
Youngster/new signing in your starting 11 with 5.5 rating… substitute them

0-2 Losing

‘where is the passion lads?’
if +7.5 ‘you can make a difference’

After Match has played

If my team wins a game, I say a general ‘pleased’, with ‘delighted’ on the top performers (+7.0).

If my team draws a game, If the ratings are generally below 7 and we were expected to win, I say ‘disappointing’ with ‘none’ on players with above 7 rating. 6.7 and below with ‘disappointing’ and ‘pleased’ on +7.5 and 6.0 below ‘angry’

If my team loses a game when the odds are close or when they favour me, I say ‘disappointing’ +7.0 ‘sympathise’

Just use Mr Hough's formations and you'll rape every team. Combine it with the corner trick to have players like Cardozo gettin 80 goals a season lol

Corner bug is thus;
Best Long Shot player (if you have 2 with same Long Shot, pick the one with better technique and finishing). Place his corner setup as "Lurk Outside Box".
Set Corner Taker to "Hit into Penalty Area".
Set everyone else (except full backs) to attack near post, far post, challenge goalie, stand on near/far post.

What happens is you cross the ball to the Long SHot player who has no one on him (AI tries to cover all the players on the goal line). The Long Shot player does a Frank Lampard and blasts it in lol.

I know about this corner trick but I wont use it because I think its abusing the game mechanics (my choice only though).

I have heard about his formations but again I choose to make my own formations than using an 'unbeatable' tactic.

In a way I find those things cheating... As I want to play the game without abusing the game mechanics.

I only asked about the Team Talk thing because I never really could understand what and where I was going wrong.

I use the same tactic every year (basic tactic) and it works every year... okay it's breakable and sometimes i get nailed to the bone but some seasons it works like a charm. Won serie A, CL, Cup etc without losing a single game Just got lucky i think

Just a quick hijack...

I'm not a fan of football at all, but a mate reckons FM2010 is a good strategy game, so I'm wondering if it's worth a play regardless of lack of footy knowledge or talent...

Do you like footie at all, cos that's probably a prerequisite.

I'm not sure any strategical knowledge is necessarily needed to play, and if you're computer/internet savvy then the interface will probably be fairly intuitive.

As to whether you'd enjoy it or not, not a clue.

I don't get why you want to play FM, if you haven't got any interest in footy at all It is a good strategy game, but it's mainly based on football knowledge (unless you pick one of the bigger clubs. Then it's just about picking the best 11 players)

I'm mainly playing with 3 central defenders and 2 very offensive wingbacks - Chile wanted me to go back and play some offensive football
