Also Tilda, as exciting as it sounds, I personally would dip my feet in Hi Sec first. I spent a good 18 months in hi Sec before I ventured into Nul. To fully appreciate Nul you have to immerse yourself in the politics of it all. The politics and propoganda of Nul play just as big a part as the fighting. In other MMO's you just rock up and fight then its over. EVE is different. A war like this has been in the planning stage for over 3 months before a single shot is fired. Its the closest you will get in a game to real life wars. Goons have a sky marshal team of over 15 people who plan wars like this. By cutting your teeth in hi sec first, you get a feel for the game, you sort out your income stream so you can afford your ships then you can partake in PvP. There are many ways to get a feel for PvP. You can join EVE-Uni, or Red v Blue, or venture into lo-sec, or faction warfare or even set up your own one man corp and war dec an industrial corp (which is what I did). Fighting outnumbered is exhillarating.
Nul sec has been on fire for over 2 years now. When I first ventured into nul it was during a time of 6 months peace. I used to rat and join the odd fleet venturing into enemy space. Then all of a sudden, the russians kicked off a massive war in nul and its all been at war since and shows no signs of let up so even if you went to hi sec for a while and then joined nul, chances are there will still be a massive war.
