Well that's helpful.

Anyhoo, there are apparently 19,000 train drivers in the UK. Average salary £48,500, so you add 50% to that for overheads, pensions etc. Sooo...19000 x (48500 x 1.5) = £1,382,250,000 a year, so at £700K per year to automate, the business case writes itself.

Criminal sanctions for senior managers aren't uncommon in other areas; there's criminal sanction in parts of banking, health and safety, negligence etc. so this isn't that unusual, in English law it would be the eventual case law that would tell you if it works or not.

The thing is, when companies have such vast resources, financial penalties just become a cost of doing business; that's why criminal penalties were brought in for errant bankers

Agree @DaGaffer - but not one senior banking exec has gone to prison for the 2008 crash, whilst whistleblowers for their bank's criminality did.

In the UK. The rest of civilization managed to lock up a few; there were some high profile jailings over here. And even the UK manages to jail bosses for negligence etc.

The twitter clip was edited but didn't really remove any context, other than the guff she said about her family coming into this country.

She's talking shite. The only "huge problem" we have is the government's unwillingness to deal honestly with immigration, legal or not. It's something they think appeals to their most right-wing supporters, and those who'd also vote for UKIP and the other lunatics.

If the Tories had any competent MPs left this person wouldn't ever get near the position she's in. They're all dregs.

What a cunt. Had a pop at the press too. The Tories (and Labour to be fair) would love to further undermine what they are allowed to say and how they are allowed to say it.

A significant proportion of the dumb british public will fully get on board with that too - and their kids'll wake up in a facist society, unable to hold any elites to account, and like canaries born in in a cage, unaware of the very existence of their cage.
