First time selling on ebay and this Dutch guy keeps outbidding everyone even though I have "Postage to UK only" on the page. I don't mind sending it out there but I was gonna use royal mail special delivery to make sure the winner can't say it didn't arrive.

Just in case this Dutchy wins anyone know what the best shipping method is and how much it costs? Would save me a trip to the post office. Package is shoe box size, fits into one of the A3 size jiffy bags.

Cancel his bids. If he wants to continue bidding tell him to pay a deposit for the extra postage costs.

Just go to http://www.royalmail.com They have a postage calculator that works on the weight of the object to be posted and lets you quote for overseas delivery to. Not sure if it's the cheapest, but it's what I tend to use to put postage costs on my auctions.

Anyone want to buy a nice watch? Brand new, in case, - Claude Valentini Oceanmaster - rotating bezel, depth up to 50m etc etc. Nice and silve - don't wear watches so I don't have any need for it - will sell for anything over 20 quid - RRP is 100. If anyone's interested I'll put it on ebay - or if you want make a private offer and I'll see what I can do.

its my dads shop since he does all of the selling (except for when i hand him something to flog in aid of raising funds for my next big thing)

shops are really just an easy way to group all your stuff together for people to view, if your selling tonnes of random stuff its not worth it, but if you specialise in one or two things (like my dad's stamps) it helps sell to other people who are interested in buying more of the same.

not worth it either if you put in the occasional thing every few days :( (like the camera)

i'll ask him when i get a hold of him later about it... hopefully i'll also have a net connection later tonight :(

NB.. as soon as they approved the payment they will send you notification via your email, you will need to you get a price quote from UPS...so that i can pay you all at once..and you will shipp it to my father in-law for his 45th birthday which is coming up next week tuesday. looking forward to hear from you soonest. GOODAY."

Ive heard some dodgy stuff about Western Union... also just checked his score, a big fat (0). think i may ignore that email

Id still reply, just say you only accept Paypal and that if he wants the phone he will have to pay that way otherwise tough. If he wants it that badly he'll set up a Paypal account.

Don't even bother with it, it doesn't matter if he uses paypal or not, if paypal suspect any fraud, they'll take the money out of your account, and you will still be out of pocket. You would have absolutely no chance of getting it back.

The only way I would accept his money would be if he made a BACS or CHAPS payment straight into my bank account, or if he sent you a banker's draft for a national UK bank.

aye just ignored him, sold the phone mind. Ive always had a query about Special Delivery... Everytime i get sent package from Special Delivery its always in grey-bag packaging.

If you take the box already in wrapping, do they just place the Special Delivery bag over it, or do they remove the wrapping then add the bag?

urm i think if its small then they bag it, but if its boxed and wraped well then they just stick special delivery stickers on the box and put it on the side with other special delivery things.

So, please can someone tell me me how you make these sales look all professional and trendy? Like, for example, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=551&item=3744842115&rd=1 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....26&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores

I just want to give my brother's paintings the best chance they can, and I worry that my complete lack of anything more in depth than using italics or centralised text makes it look really... amatuer?

They both use tables. You'll likely have to get your hands dirty with html to get the look that you want :)

For instance:

Code:
<center>
<table width="50%">
<tr bgcolor="RED">
  <td align="CENTER"><font color="WHITE"><H1>TITLE</H1></font></td>
</tr>
</table>

<table width="50%" border="0">
<tr>
  <td>Picture</td>
  <td bgcolor="#CCCCCC"><ul>
    <li>5 million ghz</li>
    <li>64 bytes RAM</li>
    <li>Quadrillion speed cd-rom</li>
    <li>Blah de blah</li></ul>
  </td>
</tr>
</table>

<table border="1" width="50%">
<tr>
  <td>Payment details</td>
</tr>
</table>

Will yield this.

Oh dear. If it was something along the lines of

10 Print "Pretty picture"
20 RUN

Then I might be in with a chance. Time to poke Kenny with a sharp pointey stick!

I cut copied and pasted the nice bit in one of those links. I've attached the files.

All you need to do really is change the text. If you want your own logos on it, just make some, put them on some webspace somewhere, and then change the hyperlinks to your own logos. Same with the pictures.

If you want to see how it looks, download the attached file and change it to a .html extension. Then double click it and it will open in IE.
