EA shut down game servers for games that were released in 2011. Hell one released in 2012 even :/
As for you not using lan great, congrats you don't play games socially on the pc - and you don't care about people who don't have access to internet, or only shitty internet. Keep rimming that Blizzard asshole, when you apply for a job there you can say I WAS A DICK TO PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET FOR YOU and they'll like totally hire you on the spot for it.
Er...why can't you do that without LAN? You do realise you can connect more than one machine to a router....right?
Who the fuck cares about LAN these days?

But Diablo has always been a single player game, the majority of players will play this without ever interacting with someone, why should I need the internet in order to play it?
It's an easy feature to add and one that made the previous two games enjoyable as it enabled modding and different types of games rather then point-blank Diablo which got stale quite easily.
LOL you're a total fucking class A twat.
Look, for you people who moan about no LAN get over it, it's 2012 and it doesn't have a place anymore and yes i don't fucking care about twats who live in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales in their caravans who don't have the internet but are trying to play on their 3g mobile phone.
Sorry mate, some of us actually have a social life outside the internet and want to get together with friends over a weekend for some lan fun and drinking.
But i can understand if that feels alien to you...
And youcant do that by meeting up and all connecting to battle net?
This could have been easily solved with an Online set of characters and a LAN set of characters.. it's really incredibly simple...Yes, hacks were rife with single player game. The best way to play was through battle.net closed chars. Surprise surprise, online only.
Thankfully there are still some game developers which don't only care about money.
Another conspiracy rumour is going around that they have ninja nerfed drop rates in order to slow supply to RMAH...awful if true.
Fixed it![]()

Your in the minority and the games companies will always panda to the majority its where they get their money from. They sold over 6 million in the first however many days you think that they really bothered by the 50k, 100k (guessing) people who didnt buy it because it had no LAN ?Sure if you go to a place that has an internet connection and where the ISP allows multiple outgoing connections from the same internet line (mine doesn't unless i pay extra).
But say you and a few mates are taking a week or two off at someones summer house out in the middle of nowhere, that's when LAN becomes important. Or should game companies dictate where i should be taking my vacation just because i want to play their game? Or pay by the minute and/or MB using a dodgy mobile connection that may or may not work out there in the middle of nowhere?
Yes there are ways around not having LAN, but no argument is good enough to say it's no longer needed. Because it doesn't take any effort to enable it, same with single player. They could easily have both that and a forced online mode that you could not use your SP characters on... Blizzard just refuse to because someone told them that this was the best way to deal with pirates, but it's not.
