I think if RMAH was available at launch they would have made a metric fuckton more money. W/e I guess it'll happen when the expansion comes out.

I will wait for it before i make any kind of judgement and even then; it's the players who willingly feed the money.

Let me say that again; willingly.

You miss the point Toht :p its not a case of "Oh that's ok I won't use it" just because you won't use it doesn't mean the games won't suffer as a result of it being there in the first place.

I think the main thing to remember is that it's a single player game with the option for small co-op. There are no arenas, no ladders.
People are making (lots) of real life money from Second Life, so much so that it is their actual full time job. Do you think D3 will go this way? If it was originally designed around a PvP centric system/ladders/leagues whatever, I would have thought so, but not now. The game simply isn't competitive enough.

I don't really care either way tbh, I'm not going to use the RMAH, I've given Blizz my money for what I think is a good (if improveable) game. If people want to sell things and that people want to buy it at stupid prices, I don't really give a shit. I would if it means they became #1 Ultra Platinum League.

Yeap, i know what you're driving at, but as i said that comes down to the game being built around it. You think it is, i know that it wouldn't be as it would've meant a MUCH inferior product. Only way to prove it is to play the game and see how far you can go without RMAH. If you can do anything without, then it's just an extra feature for those with money and lack of time.

So like any other free to play model ;)

Can't really blame a company for wanting to make money tbh.

Don't like it, don't p(l)ay

Oh don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a company making money :) that is basically the entire goal behind doing what they do, I do believe however there are certain boundaries and lines that should be upheld for the sake of gaming tho.

This is like when we farmed the shit out of the labby dragon as no one knew how to do it for a few weeks after a patch. We hurt ourselves by flooding the market and driving the prices down.

Every person who spends £100 will be able to farm act 4, then those people all sell their items for less money due to an increase of items on the auction house.

All the people who only wanna spend £50 proceed to follow suit.

Drip items into the market and you make more money, it's what I do in WoW. Farm/craft for a few days for enough to last a week or so of gradual sales...aiming for 3 million gold before the next expansion hits, not far to go :)

Heh most i've ever had in WoW is around 830,000, majority of that got pissed away on FL gear for alts... I could farm the FL trash on my hunter pre nerf but the only drops I ever got were the melee ones :< they sold for 12k-45k tho so I can't complain really, think the best run I had on FL trash was about 150k gold made in less than 3 hours.

I've been eagerly waiting for the "they told us that we'd have RMAH in the game and now we have to pay extra! False advertising!" whines, none have come :(

Yeah it's a funny bug, but do remember that it might also lead to getting banned as it's been used to duping, or golding, or sniffing panties or some such that blizz is really rather not cool with :p

Is there a quote where blizzard say they are introducing cancelling auctions like he says?

Same as De Beers diamond company did at the start of the 20th century:
Common sense tells us that the only way to increase the value of diamonds is to make them scarce, that is to reduce production.
If you sit on a commodity, it only drives value down by flooding the market. Did the same in EVE Online, making t2 rigs in big batches and selling them off one by one, creating an illusion of rarity and keeping price steady.

Same happens in D3 with the most sought after items like well rolled stormshields etc. Can make a heftier profit by timing sales rather than undercutting competition

its just a short cut for people who value their time more than what they have to pay for the gear.

Anyone can grind drops and all and there are those who earn shit loads who dont want to grind drops so they will pay. Others who are time rich and money poor have the option of trying for the drops rather than the AH.

No one is forced to buy. You can equip your chars without it.

Can't believe it really is making such an impact on the game. Back in D2 days you could go on eBay and buy whatever you needed as well

THEY TOLD US WE'D HAVE RMAH IN GAME AND NOW WE HAVE TO PAY EXTRA!!!12

That true? You have to pay to access the RMAH?

Anyway. Got pissed with the missus and completed it last weekend. Both of us completely underwhelmed.

Acts 1 and 2 were OK. Story's a bit shit and predictable but there were a couple of good laughs in there. Act 3 was tiny and what I thought was a nice build-up taster for getting to Hell "proper". Act 4 was dull, really *really* easy and then, wtf! It turns out that we'd already been to "hell" and that was it.

I guess they've held a fuckload of content back for expansions - either that or the developers have actually been doing as little as possible but sitting about wanking for ages. It was a fun enough blast but tbfh it was a massive let down.

I just feel that they've missed a trick. Eyes on the money rather than eyes on making a truly great game. :(

technically you do have to pay to access the RMAH :p you need an authenticator, minor purchase but I can see why they want to make them mandatory, just saves them a ton of hassle in the long run.

I know, but seriously what the hell were Blizzard thinking using the LOCAL clock? And having it potentially be THAT influential? :)

But apparently Blizzard is reluctant to admit this is possible, so maybe they made such a screwup with it that they can't even spot the people abusing it? So if you keep your gold on "average" levels they might not have a reason to check you if the amount of it is what they are looking for as an early warning?

We haven't deployed any hot fixes this evening. As far as we can tell the supposed exploit never worked, but we'll continue looking into it. Yes, changing the system clock can change auction times, but that doesnt dupe gold. It's pretty easy to see how much gold people have, and we have no indication anyone has/had that much.
http://www.diablofans.com/blizz-tra...if-you-saw-livestream-duping-as-proof/#post51

So if you dupe the gold and then instantly injects it back into the economy...... i dunno...

But true or not, it wouldn't be surprising if it was real. Blizzard has had a few "issues" in WoW to in the past that should have been to obvious to slip past the in house QA...

This isn't really about a company trying to make money. This is a company trying to milk their playerbase.

Because if they don't, the chinese farmers will....

That is their reasoning, i'm pretty sure of it even if i can't prove it.

I might have a look tonight, could at least get a couple of months WoW subs out of it.

I think I am pretty much done with the game now anyway.
