Who is this Athene that everyone seems to be jacking off to?

Someone who is fake as sh*t and A: posts his details(supposedly) on the internet and B: has a full chest of gear.

Oh and 10% durability loss oh my, that must really hurt....

and not one of them is fucking useable by any class or level, dat itemization is awesome Blizzard.

Interesting that you still gemmed two of the "useless" items :p

Any class or level, f*ck off.

Top tier legendaries are very good. Same with alot of the rings and even some select level ~50 items.

Sell them on the market for a reasonable price, no need to let them hog stash

It was a matter of time;

Own mistake really(glad it's not lag), should've backed out more, but those tongue-bastards accompanied with explody guys were not a good fit for my spec :p

Not too shabby for first death.
Sorry for your loss :(

Those exploding monsters are the bane of many a character

The bow and quiver both have intellect on, the only reason the bow is gemmed is for the DPS, the only reason the quiver is gemmed is for the 34 dex... point still stands the stats on them both are shit.

With the exception of rings and amulets the top tier armor and legendary weapons are shit, the only thing that sets the armor apart is that it might have a stat other armors normally wouldnt like attack speed on chest or what not :p i've yet to see a lvl 60 legendary weapon with higher dps than a 1500 dps blue and given 99% of your skills go off weapon damage it renders legendary weapons of lower dps 100% worthless regardless of stats.

The only class i've seen get by using a lower dps weapon is demon hunters that stack Crit Damage % which is basically what carries them when linked with passives that grant guaranteed crit chance after X seconds.

True about weapons though. But I've seen quite a few level 60 legendary armor bits that are beyond any rare I've seen, exactly because of the atypical properties

Some items like String of ears (19% melee dmg reduction) and Justice lantern (~12% block) are also very good. And they are level 52

Have to say I am a bit bored now, got to inferno which seems to be about farming enough gold to buy stuff off the AH...still not getting any usable items. cba to spend 50 hours just so I can kill something with more HP than it did the last time I killed it.

Rolled a DH but meh, will see how I get on.

Yup, I miss Blizzard North tbh, they knew how to make items and a game for that matter.

I played D2 a bit today.

What a far superior game, all they needed to do was an update to that :(.

Same. I really enjoyed playing the game, and still pop on for the odd blast, but overall I'm really glad I got it for free. Everyone I played with has stopped playing, the end-game farming just feels so random and un-rewarding due to the terrible itemisation. Can't see the PvP being much fun either tbh.

If Blizzard can spin the magic wand and fix itemization among other minor issues I'd quite happily continue playing :) either way I'll be playing Torchlight 2 aswell.

Well, i prefer the "bosses aren't the farm object" approach, much better then baal run #34594.

You lot should try HC out, because on the list of priorities, looting comes about 500 steps after surviving. Not been bored yet and it was what kept me playing D2 as well.

If i pkayed softcore, i would've probably quit after first runthrough ;)

Tho if you look at the real HC guys, such as Kungen. Looting is everything, he can spend hours opening up the same chest over and over again, just so that he can progress further.

At a certain point yes and i'm not disputing looting in a hack&loot game :D

Just that in HC it's not as important as in SC where death is basically nothing.

On itemization though;

- People said that this game is best played with friends and when i play with friends, we share loot. Fixed some of it and we get lootz.
- Use the AH to trade things you don't need, good point about it really as you can find items if you don't get drops.
- Give items to alts, there's nearly always a use for an item(if it's not a dex 2 hander or some such).
- Use the trade thread here.

In essence; there's new game features to combat a lacking(disputable) itemization.

After watching Kungen and Kripparian's streams I cba trying HC properly :p I don't really want to farm act 1 for 170 hours on HC Inferno only to get to Act 2 and get raped by sand wasps :p risk heavily out weighs the reward.

Yeah i wouldn't go to inferno on HC, but before that it's fun and challenging. I don't even bother thinking about inferno before i get to 60 :p

I would suggest not farming though, atleast before playing nightmare through, as it kind of ruins the oh-sh*t feeling of it.

Just read this;

"So while watching a stream of kungen yesterday, he was doing diablo in hell. Diablo was at around 15% hp so wasn't much left in the fight when all of a sudden kungen started to lag as his HP dropped rapidly, after which he was then picked up by diablo by sitting on a black spot, this was 100% death for kungen but instead he paused the game, having diablo installed on another computer with all his account info already inputted in he simply pressed enter, this kicked him from the game on his main computer which in return saved his life."

Are any of these "pro" HC players above cheating and cheesing?

To return to previous;

Tho if you look at the real HC guys, such as Kungen.

Not a real HC guy.

Doh :( just read through last couple of pages - combo of mobs was not nice. Died 3 x now on my DH. Every time I felt I had no way out of it or could not have done much to avoid it. Some combinations of mobs and abilities are just plain nasty.

Yeah, though i did learn about it. Should've run to doorways, not try and engage them on open and so on. 42 hours played though, first character so it's bound to be high, next will be faster and harder :D

No retrieval, only your stored items, gold and crafting progress stays.

Not sure how much my gear was worth, but plenty of gems and 40 gear. It's a proper loss :p

Regardless of whether its multiplayer or not the vast majority of drops are utterly useless. I am not asking for perfect loot all the time, just something that is an upgrade now and again. I don't like being forced to use the AH, regardless of it's many faults just to find an upgrade. Diablo should not be about gold farming for upgrades, it should be about smashing shit up for upgrades.

There is absolutely no use for most items because they have daft stats on them, STR and INT seemingly a Blizzard favourite. A few tweeks to the itemisation would be a massive improvement. At least make all drops have stats that make sense...even if it means lowering drop rates.
