DAoC vs WoW

Actually it's quite the opposite. Usually younger players value graphics more than older ones, who value gameplay more.

I'd like to see the statistics which makes that a rule I'd say I value gameplay more, still good graphics wont hurt now would it? I'm a big fan of good graphics...Could you determine how old I am directly out of these statements?

I'd also like to know how old you are when your one of the "older ones", and how old you are when you fit in to the "younger players" cathegory. Is the "older ones" in reality perhaps the elite? And the "younger ones" the newbies in reality? Anyways I kind of get that feeling everytime I read a statement similar to this one.

It is not just the gamplay nor the graphics which makes a game good or bad. It is all the circumstances combined. And I think most players would agree to that, both old and young.

WOW is new, but it looks and plays like a kids game, as was Diablo and Diablo 2, Catacombs is fun and as new so i'll just stay here

I'm 19 and I couldn't care less how games look and I also highly doubt most teens look at how games look. Cs anyone? What do you think why all those 14-16 year old people play it? It's about STYLE and the ability to compete with others more like, cs is butt ugly. Playing cs at the moment is stylish. I personally play DoD instead, it is not up to todays graphical minimals either. The engine is laughable, but the gameplay, it's a helluvalot fun.


I don't see myself as an average peep, but all other cs players I've known rooting from 4 years ago (yes, I played it too, but not because "well everyone plays it, so shall I!") have played it for some of these reasons:

1. They found it fun
2. They liked to compete in fps games
3. They followed the mass

Think youll find WOW engine is extreamly slick in general with graphical effects and how it runs, once you get used to the style then youll find the world is more more richly detailed then something such as DAOC or even EQ2 which i'm being forced to play atm which runs like fking treacle even on my machine.

People who dismiss WoW based on surface looks are missing the point. Besides EQ2 isn't that exciting graphically, it's really bland, browns and greys a plenty but nothing interesting - and it's worrying that people always talk about the graphics of it, not the gameplay...

well I sure chose game after the graphics I will never pay a sub or game if my char looks like a brik of boxes.


My first beta steps in WoW was god they have painted the cloth on the body of my char :|

if we take away the fact I close to erase all my chars in daoc

I would say alot will go WoW and come back to daoc love the Catacombs add on leave daoc due to there friends have quit daoc for varios reasons.

I been playing daoc now from the beta and alot of freinds have quit daoc during that time but now its like all left and its just boring and lonly :|

Then they released NF and the rest 20% of Daoc died. NF killed stealth and solo RvR completly. I cant kill an enemy without being killed by that fg that followed him or that stealther that just happend to be next to him
So bye bye Daoc, you really messsed up

Must be why I make 30k/day solo as a minstrel
Its al about adapting, if you hang round docks/bridges your gonna get zerged...if you adopt a different play style then your quite successfull as a stealther (Not giving away my spots )

Think its more to do with WoW's PvE being "fun" and there's none of this ML/ToA/Artifact crap.

No one has really seen the PvP in WoW to its fullest as its not even properly implemented yet, until there are plenty of level 60 players and the PvP reward system, followed by tweaks etc, its impossible to judge.

WoW > DAoC

the yanks know it, the europeans know it, everyone knows it, toa completely destroyed daoc, nf was the final blow for most people i know.

cata is big waste of time, tyring to fix the dmg from toa, but too little, too late

i stopped playing daoc long time now, ToA freaked me out, i reached ML9 and then i broke... anyway
i am playing the closed beta of WoW some time now i have some lvl 15-20 chars and a mage lvl 50.
i could write down tens of pages to tell you how good wow is but i prefer only to say "the game is JUST amazing". Yes PVE is fun. Quests are Better. eg : Its not the style : " go speak with master Veran in Snowdonia, then go to lyonesse speak with Vin Derrak, then go to Hadrians and kill the X mob then go back to lyonesse etc" it ends up you riding a horse 70% of the quest time. WoW has quests like "General bry has been captured by horde forces ..he is locked etc... then you go and save him and you must escort him somewhere and he is fighting with you along the way. you gotta to see it so you can understand what i mean. and PVP is not implemented yet, but i ve done some PVP fights and i am sure it will be even better than daoc. specially when BG's come live. ofc guys like you and me will choose PVP server to play, wow pvp servers will not be like camlan, you cant attack people of your faction, you cant be attacked if your are in your territory but you can attack the enemies comin there(then they can attack you as well ofc), you gonna be flagged for pvp automatically if you enter a contested area etc. what else ? what else? i dont know where to start and where to finish telling how good wow is... the sound? the graphics? the proffessions? how much fun the players gestures and the voices are? the loot system? that you can have your own mount? the teleport spells of mages can have? the teleport warlock can do to bring a player of grp who is miles away? the spell you can walk on water? the freaking tons of good spells? the great styles of rogue? the fact hunter must feed his pet to keep it happy? the fact you have a new quickbar set when you stealth and back? THE implemented RADAR on the right up corner? the fact you can see where all the grp members are? the map system in general? i ve seen thousands of little details wich making this game better than daoc.
i must stop typing cause in the end none will read this.. and i will write the "tens of pages" i ve said in the begining...
personally and finally i will say WoW is the best game (not the best mmo but the best game of all kinds) i have played in my whole life... and i am 30yrs old, and i am playing games since amstrad 464... hope i helped this thread even i posted very very late...

Ye WOW is amazing BUT only at low lvls.When i played wow open beta i thought it is the best game ever...But I got 60 warr on US and already bored from endless PvE.It takes 2-3 weeks to get 60 and what then? I am not a fan of 1000 pve runs in the same dungeons.And even PvE isnt so funny at high lvls...there are more bugs and worser quest system.I would say that WOW is shit covered by chocolate.Atleast till the time when pvp is on decent level.

Well, i am not lvl 60 yet, but till lvl 50 i am not bored at all, BG's will get implemented soon as well more quests and i guess more dungeons/areas later.

i am not fan of PvE also, thats why i will join a PvP server on release.

about bugs yes i have discovered some but not many and not important as well, bugs are much less than daoc had after 3yrs of release.

Quest system is worser than what? Daoc? plz...

Blizzard has done a great work till now and i am sure they will continue improving the game as much as possible.

heh, wow's radar doesnt show enemies but only your grp members and your self on the map zoomed out, so you can easier find your way..

i guess banning on daoc its fair, while radar there is just a cheat.
Surprise the enemy is a very good element of daoc rvr, radar spoils it.

Just to add to what Rambo said is the fact that it doesn't take you an age to get a powerful character means that you can realistically level every class (Alliance and Horde as well if you want). You can also - realistically - master all the professions as well. It doesn't take an age to level one and little details like the Create All button when you are crafting are cool .... butthen again so are the classes

Has WoW changed since it launched? Not as such but what has / is happening is that
a) servers are filling up - there is even a bit of lag in places like Ironforge near the bank.
b) Guilds - many still forming but others now established. Orgabised Guilds = Organised Raids on your neighbourhood Alliance/Horde
c) More tells asking for or to form groups

And one last comment. It is obvious from the questions that there are still lots of people just starting ... the topic of even more servers has cropped up
